Jedi... Light vs. DarkFollow

#1 Jul 03 2009 at 1:58 PM Rating: Decent
I am a returning vet who is giving the game another shot because of the free trial going on. Can someone briefly exaplin to me the difference between Light Jedi and Dark Jedi? Which class is better in PvE or PvP for example? I hear Light is better at defense and Dark is better at offense, is this true?

Thanks

My understanding is that you are correct Dark Side Jedi are better DPS while Light side are better tanks and have better heals.

I dont know a whole lot about the class as I dont play one but a number of friends have recommend Dark side jedi as a good class for leveling up.

I miss the days when you had to earn 80 badges just to be a jedi.
Thats when you were COOL to be a jedi.
Now its like, everywhere I turn theres some Jedi newb tossin his lightsaber around.
I hate being a jedi now.

Im just a hater..lol jk. Its great bein one, so no offense. And obviously you dont have to be a newb to be a jedi, so dont bash me folks. lol

i never really agreed with the whole jedi as a player class tbh, as for me it destroyed any mystique that surrounded them. then again, the last 3 films or 'prequels' were for me, very much like the highlander films, after the first one that is ;D

I agree, I would have left Jedi out altogether and simply given people various degrees of force sensitivity as a separate experience line (similar to how pilot is now) with experience gained via questing, mastering skills and collections.

that would have been a definite improvement i think, though i would have kept the pre-nge skill trees too, and no levels, going into combat without knowing exactly what your opponent could do, did lend a certain tenseness to the situation, besides, why should one player be better than another just because he's 40 levels higher? but thats another issue...

I can't see why it could not have been done as part of the old skill tree system, you could have designed the trees along the "dark" and "light" lines, and allowed your sensitivity experience to increase only from completing specific quest lines (completing X quest line unlocks a box much like the old trainers) and from a fraction of your combat experience ( say 1 point of Force Sensitivity for every 10000 combat xp).

Star Wars is all about the Jedi.

Jedi are the same as Knights or Paladins in World of Warcraft. Game is not the same without them.

Without Jedi, Star Wars is nothing.

Jedi/Sith florish everywhere until wiped out in Revenge of the Sith.

i disagree, i dont really include the last 3 films tbh, they were a mockery of the original 3 films, sort of an afterthought add-on that didnt really fit in all that well. and star wars was all about the rebellion wasnt it, and the oppression of the imps, and, a kid discovering how to use the force. the only actual jedi's involved all died (if only it were true in game too!!) ask anyone who the coolest characters were in those films, and you'll probably get the answer of either han solo, or boba fett.. as for knights or paladins in WOW, i think you'll find there is a lot of wishful thinking that paladins and deathknights werent actually there either... funny that ;D

No matter how bad you may think the new movies are, there there, and nithing will stop that, star wars is about jedi, always will be, even the first 3 movies were heavily focused on jedi, sure there was the rebelion, but who were they rebelling agaisnt? dark jedi.

hell theres only been maybe what, 1 star wars game that wasnt jedi focused, and that was republic commando.

basiclly if you dont like jedi id stay away from star wars, because star wars is jedi and jedi are star wars, and nothing is going to change that.

So did any one actually see the movies? It was all about the Jedi. Not about pilots or troopers. Just saying.

I like dark side. I like the various force powers. I don't like being stuck as healer like Light Side seems to look like in game.

This is very true but they were about the few Jedi that remained not stonking great hordes of them hanging out at Starports.
