I've already have my copy of the CE preordered and I get to sit on the closed beta this weekend. Even if it doesn't end up as good as WoW, if I get 70 hours or so out of it, it will be worth it to me although I could see myself playing a for quite a while. Have to see how I feel after this weekend.

this weekends cbt is 1-25 have ya decided on what race and class to play yet, i'll either be an asmodian sorcerer or elyos ranger.

Asmodian for my race. I plan to rip the wings off many of those Elyos snobs.

As for class, I'm torn between Templar, Spiritmaster, or Chanter. It sounds like Sorcerer and Ranger are overpopulated classes so I most likely will not play them. Probably give all three of them a shot and see what I like. I'm sure whatever I don't main, I'll be playing as alts down the road.

Asmodian ranger for me, since i play a hunter in wow it would feel most comfortable, for the sorcerer i want to try an elyos just to get both perspectives.

just watched some trailers and vlogs. the whole 'inside of a sphere' thing is freaking awesome, but nothing about it seems to scream, 'run out and build a new machine!'

I have been in all the Beta Weekends, and plan to buy my copy any day now. :)

BTW, we have started an Aion wiki here, at http://www.zam.com/wiki/Aion

I ended up playing an asmodian assasin and elyos ranger both to level 16 this beta weekend (9 days till the next one is torture Smiley: cry) i have to say leveling both characters to 16 was one of the most fun times ive ever had leveling in an MMO. I prefered the asmodian side (my assasin was a 4 foot tall ball of death Smiley: grin) they seem like the under dogs in the game due to them getting the crappy side of the planet when it split in half. Also blud one thing i noticed in the wiki is it stats that the retail game will launch with patch 1.2 but from everything i have seen on the beta boards is that it will launch with 1.5.

I might try it out, but I'm not really in the market for a new MMO right now.

(Though I might be in a few months. Who knows?)

Well if ya want to try it out just go to a local game store and reserve it (5 bucks tops) and you will get a code for the Closed beta weekends coming up you can try it and if you dont like it just cancel the reservation and go about your merry way.

NA/EU retail launches with 1.5 which adds a lot more PvE instances.

Played a couple of classes this past weekend. Did a Asmodian Templar and an Elyos Chanter. I know I said I wasn't going to do an Elyos, but some people I wanted to play with did so I did too. They weren't as arrogant as the lore made them sound. I really like the chanter due to the early feel, but from what I hear they don't have the feel later when other classes catch up. I see a lot of people rolling it though and will probably be disappointed when they realize it isn't going to be the God mode they though it was.

Still trying to figure out the class I want to play at launch.

How is the game play compared to other games? The story of Aion looks interesting and I hope to try it out, but the idea of another grindfest doesn't appeal.

I spent over two hours with the character creation screen, and about thirty minutes with the actual game. Didn't seem too much different from other MMOs, truthfully. Could fly. Wow, I guess.

I'm still in debate. I currently have EQ2 and WoW open.. I may need to cancel one if I end up liking this.. I'm not sure I want to do that either.

I'm trying it out, thanks to the preorder I am now in the process of downloading the game. Unfortunately, I'm downloading it at 25kb/sec, so it's going to take the rest of the week at this point.

Anyone know a faster way of getting it other than the Aion site itself? (got it from fileplanet, downloaded in under two hours, way preferable to the 50 or so hours I was going to need)

Downloader was slow for me at night also. Try running the downloader in the morning and it should download in a few short hours. I think Fileplanet did have it at one time, but I'm not sure if they currently do.

I got it from fileplanet in about two hours yesterday, there was one smaller patch I still needed after that download, but it was time to sleep anyway. Now I have to see if I can get online!

I might be giving that one a spin. It looks like it might end up being an interesting/fun sort of a game.

No, it's still there, but below the filter. You got sub defaulted for plagiarizing Gutlers post in a similar thread.

So, today the open beta begins for Aion (lasts til the 13th). I've checked the Aion page and the news releases... and I can't actually tell if it's really an open beta or a closed open beta to people who subscribe to fileplanet and preordered the game. I've also heard it's only open in north america, but I still can't get on.

So, is it really open, or should I just not bother?

(I'm not buying the game to play a demo)

It's not really an "open" beta the way they implemented. Basically if you played any of the closed beta, you're in for the closed. Which basically means if you've preordered the game or got your key from some other method (Fileplanet preview weekends). They just aren't handing them out to anyone that wants to try it.

Well, however they are doing it,the load was apparently much higher yesterday than it was for the last Closed Beta. All in all, tho, I had a good first day and my Asmo Gladiator, Bludwyng, on the Siel server, made it to 11. Headed back in now, so I'll see you in game if you are in, kk?

Oh, btw, we do have an Aion wiki, here, at http://www.zam.com/wiki/Aion
