Pre-ordered the game a month ago and received the disk to download and try the beta. In all honesty I wasn't that impressed and quickly found myself yearning to return to Final Fantasy XI as a result.

In my opinion it's just too much like WoW style-wise. Will probably have a similar audience playing it as well. Did look promising and perhaps if I was closer to end-game levels and events it'd be much different but... meh.

Too many other, potentially better MMOs worth checking out than investing a paid month to this.

Well I tried out the beta today. Made it to 5 on my Priest in fairly short order. Like others are saying it reminded me a lot of WoW at least at this early level. Visuals are quite a bit nicer.

The game runs smooth at 1900x1200 with all the sliders cranked up a decent bit beyond its auto detect + 4x AA with a relatively modest PC by todays standards - E8400, single Radeon 4870, 4gb ram, Vista etc. I'm sure I could have put the settings up higher, I haven't bothered trying yet.

I really liked how the newbie areas, even though packed with all the fresh beta players, had plenty of quest mobs to slaughter.

I'll have to reserve judgment till I cap on the beta's level on a class or 2. Priest has suprisingly powerful offensive capabilities thus far and a seemingly endless supply of magic.

People enjoy having random personal conversations in reigon chat for some reason. That has always annoyed me.... They should put a flood filter on that on the order of 2x every 5min or so.

I'm up in the air about heading over there. I think after a few months I might try it. I hope they offer a free trail at least lol. Defiantly looking for a game I don't have to jump hoop threw to pay for.

So far in the beta I have tried out the Elyos race. I have played a Spiritmaster and a templar. I just created a asmodian on another server to try out chanter and ranger. I like the flight system and even though its limited in areas (to keep people from just flying around from quest to quest, Outland anyone?) it is pretty awesome. The gathering system is a bit annoying, making a large crafting run could take days to build up the materials.

Its just minor things really. I think I am going to go Elyos because the areas are nicer, but who knows after ascending as an asmodian I might change my mind.

Last thing I can say for sure is that I LOVE THE CREATION SYSTEM in this game. WoW you got 4 faces and 6 hair styles. FFXI you had 2 faces and hair styles. I there is more than 10 for this game and you can get really custom with it.

I'm playing an Elyos in OB, since I played Asmo most of CB, and am planning on doing Asmo on retail (don't want to burn out on Asmo noob stuff). Still don't really know anyone else playing the game, or what server to pick, though.

Right now on the zikel server asmodian side i have a 19 chanter named Kyrin (R.I.P) and a 13 sorceress named Zipsa, i will more then likely be playing the same server when retail comes out (depends on where my legion decides to start). Other then the first 2 days of lag caused by routing problems the game has run very smooth and makes me want retail to come out even sooner.

Hmmm mostly just a leveling play together type, i found them on CB4 and we leveled together and it was alot of fun (i really increased the leveling speed with my gladiator Smiley: lol) the leaders Kitine and Biske are WoW converts looking for something new to play the legions name is Hearthwin (inside joke cause kit was a paladin in WoW) and the website is www.Hearthwin.net

I think for the next few months at least im going to be living this game through everyone on this forum, due to the lack of online playability at university that has me rather annoyed about I won't be playing until I get back home which could be a while. After reading everything I can lay my hands on its definately a game I want to play in future.

Are we starting an unofficial alla group? If so, west coast server please.

Someone feel like starting a poll about server and race?
#37 Sep 10 2009 at 7:55 PM Rating: Good
I'm down for a alla legion. Just name the server and side, I will be there. I am planning on going sorceress in the live version. I don't really see to much of a difference in the two factions so I don't really care what the color of my wings are.

[West] Israphel GMT-8 / PST :7 (63.6%)
[West] Nezekan GMT-8 / PST :1 (9.1%)
[West] Triniel GMT-8 / PST :0 (0.0%)
[West] Vaizel GMT-8 / PST :0 (0.0%)
[West] Zikel GMT-8 / PST :0 (0.0%)

[East] Lumiel GMT-5 / EST :0 (0.0%)
[East] Marchutan GMT-5 / EST :0 (0.0%)
[East] Yustiel GMT-5 / EST :1 (9.1%)

Someone else copy/paste this.

[poll]
[question]Which faction for the unofficial Aion Legion? [/question]
[choice]Elyos [/choice]
[choice]Asmodian [/choice]
[/poll]

Knowing which class you plan on playing would help as well.

I'll be using an Assassin as my main and a Gladiator as my alt.

We also need someone to run it. I'll be MIA from late Oct. to mid Nov. so count me out.

Cant have more than one poll per post so here is the second one and apparently a user can't make 2 polls on the same thread so if someone else could setup the other that would be great.

I chose the first server because really its easier for me to track the EST vs PST. I am also still a bit torn between Asmo and Elyos, but I am seriously leaning towards Asmo because of the Ascension cutscenes, they are way better than the Elyos scenes.

Class wise, I have decided to go with a Sorcerer with the crafting professions of Alchemy and Tailoring (or Cooking).

Additionally could the admins please add the Aion Forums to the forum list so we can gain quick access to posting, thanks :)

Dont think so i voted in the faction poll and it now just shows the results for both. I'm all for joining an allakhazam legion (go go 5th Star) i would prefer asmodian but either race is fine server doesnt matter to me Smiley: grin.

Haha, yeah, that's why I said technically... you have to really dig to find the individual game forums.

It's not even listed in the individual game forums unless I missed it.

I vote we rename the V:SoH forum. Their hasn't been a serious post there since Bludwyngs announcement of the Wiki back in July '08.

looks like we are aiming towards a PST server. I have a domain and a forumer available if we are seriously going to setup shop... We also need a name lol. I don't even know where or how to setup a legion.

The Fifth Star or The Sixth Star for the legion name hands down.
