New to lotro - class helpFollow

#1 Jul 21 2009 at 10:48 AM Rating: Decent
Heys guys! I'm new to lotro and I would like to know which class is in more demand or which party role is being more requested like damage dealer, tank, healer, etc.

Thanks in advance m8s!

well the MOST requested classes would have to be Minstrel/Rune-Keeper as they both have healing aspects to their classes (mistrels are 90% healing class and Rune-Keeper is 50% healing 50% DPS), and a Healer is ALWAYS needed in a group. BUT the downside to this is that they are both hard to train. Especially Minstrels. They also start out as weak classes in terms of armor, as both Minstrels and Rune-Keepers wear light armor (at the start of the game that is). Minstrels have the ability to wear medium-armor once they complete a class quest, but not RK's.

What i would personally do is try out ALL the classes and see which one you like best in the game. That's exactly what I did. I found out I excell at being a LM (Lore-Master/Loremaster). My secondary pick for class would be either Rune-Keeper or Hunter.

But again, i CANNOT stress how important it is to find your place in the game, specifically a place you like. Because being a game, its ALL about having fun.

Also, my view is STRICTLY limited to the Windfola server and also I can't speak for most of the stuff that happens during the beggining of the game through the middle. (I've got 3 characters I play on Windfola and they're all in the 35 - 60 range).

But again, like i said earliier, just try out the different classes and pick the one you like the best, its the BEST way to enjoy the game.

I'm gonna take a wild guess here and say I'll bet you've come from FFXIII...

Here's the thing, unlike FF, the classes in LOTRO are very well balanced. So well balanced in fact that there really are no favored classes. That's right - every class is in demand and every class has something unique to offer a group.

Of the four types of character class (tank, healer, DPS & support) the group roles for almost any group situation can be successfully filled by any class of that type. Here's how they break down:

TANK - guardian / warden / captain
DPS - hunter / champion / rune keeper / loremaster
HEALER - minstrel / rune keeper
SUPPORT - burglar / captain / loremaster

(Yes, some classes are listed in more than one spot because they fill more than one role)

So what you really need to do is to figure out which role you'd most like to play and then be that! Assuming you are halfway good at playing you'll always be in demand.

On the other hand, if you suck it doesn't much matter what class you pick because no one wants to play with sucky players no matter what class they happen to be! (I mean really would you invite a crappy healer into a tough group? - "ok folks, we're all gonna die a bunch but at least we have a healer! he's a sucky healer and he'll let us all die but we do have one!")

So just pick something you'll enjoy playing and you'll have a better chance of being good at it!

I come from WoW actually xP back in the days when it was unbalanced as **** but I heard it's a bit more balanced now. Anyways I'm not going back to it and I've always loved lotr and all of tolkiens work so I'm gonna give lotro a try.

Thanks guys!
