Is anyone playing this game on xbox live?

I just started playing this game a few weeks ago, and I love the online play. I was just curious if anyone else wants to get a game of solid players destroying the levels together.

My gamertag is Feyyras. Send me a friend request and we can do this thing.

Yea, but not all of my friends play computer games, so I have the consoles to play games with them.

supposably the dude behind left 4 dead was responsible for the original bot ai in counterstrike. in order to test for bugs and stuff, he'd spawn hundreds of bots and see what happened. eventually he got some buddies together and they discovered that 4 people could take care of a lot of enemies, so they designed left 4 dead to be the most fun in 4 person co-op.

heard that here, from a january show.

The only thing I don't like about Left 4 Dead, is when the other team has A.I. when they are the non-infected people. As soon as you attack them with a hunter/smoker, they automatically shoot you off of them, even if they are boomed.

Meh, I have a social network of friends that I like keeping in touch with. Considering I just got out of the Navy, Xbox Live is one way I've kept up with some friends over the last 6 years of my life.

I don't mind playing with strangers, but when the fail at playing video games, I tend to kick them quickly. That really makes for a crappy session when playing Left 4 Dead, too.

Yeah, being an Infected can be an incredibly fragile thing. Smoker is frankly almost useless with how quickly the tongue is shot dead and how long it takes to charge up again. Still, Hunter can be pretty nice with some good strategy - nothing like finding a Survivor standing near an edge and pouncing them off of it to their demise.

Quite the opposite, smokers are one of the more useful infected, but he generally has to be used as a team and not solo.

then again, even solo he cant stall a group for a few seconds giving the chance to make a nice attack.

I agree with Master on this one. Smokers are really a great tool to have. Like on the apartments, smoking the other team into that last car and making the alarm go off.

There is also a few levels that you can smoke them and their team can't help them at all.

The cooldown of smoke is only long if you hit them. However, the boomer cooldown is crazy long no matter what happens.

I played it last night; first time I ever played an X-Box. I pulled like 60% of the weight my AI teammates did, and about 40% what my RL friend did Smiley: laugh

It was a lot of fun, but the complete and total lack of a storyline and the general repetitiveness of the levels left something to be desired, I felt.

Locke,

I haven't even tried to play the campaign, yet. I normally don't play the campaign on games that have a really strong online gameplay. However, I'm pretty sure the online versus is the same as the campaign, just not the story, and you're going against actual people.

Usagi,

I'll hit you up on live, for sure. However, my friends and I normally play from like 11p.m central, to around 4a.m. Things change sometimes, and maybe I can catch you online.

The lack of a storyline is actually one of the things I like most. It feels completely like I'm in a zombie movie, and there's no time wasted with beautiful but pointless cutscenes. I do agree the level selection is rather limited, and have to question why they didn't add more - I suspect the team for L4D was rather small to add so few maps.

I dont consider 20 maps to be few, especially if you look at how much work had to go into each map compared to say, an unreal 2k4 map.

Eh, I don't know. Compared to Valve's other efforts, particularly in the Half-Life line, it's pretty small. Doubly so when you consider that, with the Director AI system, there isn't a lot of mob placement to consider or anything, except maybe the spawn points of the Witch in each level, and where guns/ammo can be found.

I hadn't realized this was a 9 month old thread till after I'd posted. It was only like the 6th or 7th thread down. I should have known better though.

But Supposably? Really? COME ON!
