Private StoresFollow

Here is my personal opinion. The Private Stores mechanic simply does not work, for a number of reasons, not the list is that you only get to see what is for sale if you happen to walk by the seller and are enticed to look. The broker is the correct mechanism for doing this job, but the number of slots for items you can have for sale at once needs to be at least 30, not 10.

As far as the mod they added with 1.5.0.7, no, that is just not gonna fix the problem. Add an AFK tag that will disco you after 30 min, if you like, but get rid of Private Stores.

Not to even get started on the use the Griefers have put this to, blocking important NPCs so they cannot be targeted.

Do you have an opinion? Our front page, http://aion.zam.com/ has a poll up on this very topic.

I agree the stores do need to. They seem to crowd around the more traffic areas in the game. As for the Broker. I agree. It needs more slots. I actually like being able to see a list of who is selling and for how much. That was one of the things I hated about ffxi. I was force on a set price no matter what.

I tend to play with player names turned off if im in a town so i can clearly see the npc's im trying to target.

As with personal stores, i agree they arent needed, however with the limited broker slots and the in ability to Shift + Right click to buy the quanitys you need ,personal stores lets you do this to stack size.

problem is they put massive ad bubbles up making it really hard to see past them. I personally know what blud is talking on the npc's. When I first ascended my character I had to dance around 5 private stores (griefers) to get a lock on the first npc in pandaemonium. Then I had problems even getting near the temple of artisans thanks to more griefers jamming it up.

Here is my take. I run around the game with 60-90 fps. When I goto pandaemonium it drops to 20-30 fps if there are a mass of private stores up. 30-50fps if there is just a few (or none). The ad's on some of these signs is just enough to make me want to quit, and nothing is being done about it. I do not understand why they didn't put filters on shop ad's or in legion names. That's just fail, simple fail. I am giving the game till 29 october and if they don't fix the problems then I am off to SWG again.

They need to change the programming where private stores can only be used at certain places. Zoning into your a main city is rough trying to get past all the stores or finding that npc. Make it where stores can only be open via on the wall and not in the middle of the street.

The Private Store idea is really a great addition to the game and neat to be able to setup a store in areas outside that do not have brokers. I do agree though that the abuse of the private store does cause headaches, but I would be disappointed if private stores were removed as a whole.

Some type of limitation to how many stores can be up in an area, or limitation on the adds you can setup. Potentially a useful idea would be to /hideprivatestore and that command makes all private stores invisible to you causing less lag and allowing you to get to your quest NPCs. This would keep all the positive points of the stores and people can see them if they want to, while you are questing and don't care to see them just hide them and then /showprivatestore to make them viewable again.

Why couldn't they set it up like FFXI? Bazaars

Places an icon beside the name (or over the head of) your character to show that you could examine the character and see that he/she has wares for sale. No text box. You must examine the character to see what is for sale.

Maybe that is not possible with AION?

I am not liking the Privates Stores idea, its not game-breaking for me, but I think it could be handled better.

Enjoying the game a great deal, though. Smiley: nod

This.

Personally, if I don't want to sell something on the AH & want to continue grinding mobs/quest or w/e, then this would be perfect. It wouldn't really stop the private stores from all surrounding the AH, etc. People would set up their mules there just as they do in FFXI; only without the little store signs they present. Overall though, I believe it would help. FFXI is the only MMO I've played that does that though.

I like the idea of private stores, but as it has been said. FFXI had a far better way of doing it. Eventually everyone will gather in one area just like in FFXI (i.e. Rolanmart). But taxes on goods in main citys, no one wants to spend extra money so no one will sell in high populated areas. If it's not broken, steal it from a different game lol.

Amazingly enough, I have actually discovered a GOOD use for private stores. More and more I am seeing entrpreneurs setting up near quest mobs out in the wild that are selling the item you need for the quest, like Afari (Aion Item) for sale next to the guy on the shore in Eltnen Fortress (Aion Place). This allows those who cannot harvest the items to buy the item right there and continue questing.

Now me, personally, I am big on harvesting and will not buy the update. I will grind my harvesting until I can fish the Afari for myself (which I did) but I was impressed that someone had set up a store there.

I see the same thing in Morheim Ice Fortress (Aion Place) for the Titanium (Aion Item) and Aether Crystal (Aion Item)s needed there.

I consider the private stores to be pretty much useless. They seem like a good idea, but eventually everyone will learn that it's better to just buy and sell on the AH. The only reasons anyone even uses bazaars in FFXI anymore is to sell things that can't be sold on the AH or for things that are so expensive that they are trying to avoid the taxes from putting it up on AH. If NCSoft is smart, they won't let you sell anything in a private store that you can't get on the Broker.

It is annoying when you're running through Pandemonium and there is a narrow hallway that has several people set up almost to the point you can't get through it. Seems to me that they should be restricted to certain areas, not sure how hard that would be to code though...
