I've always had a soft spot for "Song of Storms" in Zelda's Ocarina of Time. I also really like Chrono Cross' "Time's Scar".

What are yours?

Chrono Cross has a wonderful soundtrack.

I like a lot of the music from Kingdom Hearts to, Utada Hikaru's English and Japanese versions of the songs. Even the basic music (non-song stuff) is good.

True, I forgot about Kingdom Hearts. Also, the geek in me that played Pokemon in 6th grade when it came out still has shivers when the theme song starts to play. It brings back a lot of memories, I guess.

To Zanarkand - FFX I like finding guitar covers for theme songs.

Suteki da ne - FFX, brings back memories with my cousin, who also loves FFX.

Victory Fanfare (Chaos version) - Dissidia FF, Love this one.

Still Alive - Mirror's Edge, a little sad, but it really set the mood for the game.

Old Snake - MGS4, I get a chill down my back when the guitar starts, heh.

Metal Gear Saga - MGS4, epic music for an epic scene in the game.

Silence before the storm - FFX, This guy is ******* awesome.

Warcraft has always had some of my favorite music, even before WoW. The song played during the video where Arthas returns from Northrend triumphant gets me every time. Dragon Quest IV music was the first time I found myself really enjoying the hell out of some game music.

Aside from that, anything I've ever heard by Nobuo Uematsu, really.

Suikoden 2 and FF6 have some fantastic music, and ya Crono Cross was wicked too, just the right amount of Crono Trigger in some stuff while being fresh.

Crono trigger is another one with a great soundtrack.

About anything from Squaresoft RPG's between Final Fantasy 6 and Final Fantasy X (when they lost their music composer BTW). Lost Odyssey has a great soundtrack (Guy who used to work for Squaresoft did it by the way).

Getting into older stuff ID have to say Mega Man 2 Wily fortress was really good. There is alot of good remixes of it in both midi and mp3 format. When it comes to Game music there are alot of really good Midi songs out there (www.vgmusic.com excellent place to get them).

Shoot I could go on all day on suggestions for this thread so I will just stop now.

Megaman 2 had one of the best megaman soundtrakcs, if anyone liked megaman 2 they should check out the minibosses, they did some sweet megaman 2 stuff.

Hmm, let's see...

-Chrono Trigger
-Final Fantasy (I'll admit, I have FFXI's music on my hard drive; I like the music, even if I don't like the game anymore)
-WoW
-Diablo (both 1 and 2)
-Prey (nice, dramatic music)

Yuki Kaijura deserves a mention in these sorts of threads for her work on Xenosaga 2 and 3. Many composers would simply die before attempting to follow Yasunori Mitsuda, but she did pretty damn well.

Also, Motoi Sakuraba, for work on the tales of soundtracks, but also for Eternal Sonata. Every single track from the latter is beautiful, if not all very memorable.

As far as specific songs go, there's always the more recognizable stuff like To Far Away Times or Cosmo Canyon, but there's a lot of spectacular stuff out there not done by Mitsuda or Uematsu.

Cornered - Pursuit
Sorrow's Distortion
The Princess who Died
The Sun Rises

Persona 3 had a pretty good soundtrack, with the added bonus of children shooting themselves in the head.

Both good picks. I'm also quite a fan of this number (particularly when the main song starts up at 3:10, everything before it is a cutscene intro). F*ck Uematsu, Hitoshi Sakimoto did a fantastic job with the soundtrack.

I don't understand why xii is considered so badly when it comes to the score. I've seen people express disdain for xii in the same breath as praise for TA2, or Revenant Wings, and those games have the same music.

Though I can't say it was as memorable. Most of the tracks from 12 that I can recall are very good atmospheric peices, but I can't remember one that stands out to me as truly spectacular.

Except the remix of Big Bridge, but I like that song so much already that nearly any arrangement is memorable to me.

I also really enjoyed the esper and boss fight music from xii. It took a different but enjoyable tone compared to the rest of the series. It's definitely more... orchestral than previous games?

Kind of felt like, no matter what I was doing, even just farming some tigers for exp for an hour or two, the music made me think it was some epic battle.

Peal/Diamond/Platinum has some nice tracks as well. The legend fight, spear pillar, the champion fight, and a few more are surprisingly engaging.

I also really enjoyed the music from Braid. Maenam and Downstream fit the atmosphere so perfectly.

Good music + great game play = One awesome game.

You all have listed games I was going to. So they have been covered.

I guess Guitar Hero games don't count, uh? lol.

OT, and on the subject of "hero games": DJ Hero. It will be epic!

I'll ignore any redundancies and only speak of games not yet mentioned. Dark Chronicle had some great music, especially cleared zone music. Silent Hill has had its share of impressive tracks throughout the series. Klonoa 2's Wahoo Stomp is quite memorable.

Mitsuda is almost certainly my favorite VG composer (his ancillary work is quite good too), but since I don't think it has been mentioned, I'd like to say that I felt the original Wild Arms had an absolutely fantastic soundtrack to it... Grandia as well, if anyone remembers that.

I'm suddenly feeling very nostalgic.

All the Wild ARMs games have awesome soundtracks, but I'm going on record and stating that I wasn't too fond of the fourth game of the franchise.
