Xaen said in his twitter that when the servers come back up today (should be up by now, actually) players below level 5 will be unable to send whispers. This should slow down the spam a little and make it easier to block the ones that do level up.

I started playing last night and immediately said "chat ads... what a mess". I blocked 2 people and then things were normal.

now they will just level up to 6. There is no "real" fix to the RMT issue other than countries where electronic laws are slacked get tougher on these groups.
Again that isn't likely to happen, at least now I can right click ban a person inside of trying to type its name out. Round 3 will be the mail system.

I just bought this game actually. It seems great, I like it so far. The only qualm I'm having is the RMT spam. From what I understand, blocking their names stops them from sending you private messages. However, is there no way to block them on the General Channel? In FFXI You can blacklist a person, and you never see any of what they say after you block them. But after I block some one on Aion I can still see them using the main long-range chat. Is there anything to do about this?
Edit: Ahh nevermind, figured it out. Although now there's some one spamming RMT shouts under the "Prompted" name that you can't block... Hmm...

About time. I saw 7 or 8 level 5's spamming in the newb zone this morning. Spam was going by so fast you could barely click on the names to block them.

Sadly I have had to disable channel 1, 3 and 4. It would be nice to be able to at least see my own class channel. I'm not sure how they are going to get a fix on this, but I do hope to figure out a way.

The guys with the [Prompted] in their msg that you cant click are the next name up.

Look, NCSoft needs to tough up and start banning accounts / game keys. This minor fixes aren't doing jack to stop the gold spam
