Hey there,

My friend and I have recently started playing Mario Kart 64 again now that we've got a Wii in our dorm. However, whenever a tie has occurred, I've won, and a dispute has arisen over this fact. I grew up being told it was due to the lap times that each player had over the four races, while others have argued that there's a specific race to win for each cup. So which is it? Thanks :D

Honestly, there hasn't been conclusive evidence anywhere I've checked even though I've almost convinced him that it's lap times. If I could get a few people to agree that would be awesome, since he is kinda computer forum illiterate and doesn't know what spoilers are.

It's the average lap time for all the courses you ran, and I think they also average out the amount of times you got hit by items and times your items hit another racer.

I always just thought 1st player won when there was a tie. Sounds like we need to do some scientific research!

Someone get a bottle of Jameson and an N64!!
