Sony blocks CFW from PSNFollow

Looks like Sony doesn't want those of us with custom firmware to buy things from their Playstation Network Store. Its like they're telling those of us that want to play SNES and other old school roms on our PSPs that instead of buying old Playstation 1 games from them, we should just download the games and convert them for ourselves.

Meh, this is why I have two PSP's Smiley: grin

I imagine they're concerned with people transferring the files to others with also hacked firmware.

Don't see why this is a big deal, its the same with XBL, and I can only imagine they wouldnt care what pirates think (no matter how you try to justify it most people with CFW are going to pirate games, even roms are pirating).

Well, we can still play all the games, so not having PSN is not a problem.

Actually, the only people that this hurts are those with Custom Firmware, but still support Sony through using the PSN.

Too little too late though, because most of those PSN games became available last week. I don't think you need CFW to get the games copied anyway, you just need CFW to play the copied games.

The thing is, it really doesn't hurt the people with Custom Firmware. If they want they can easily find the ISOs of the games, and either simply transfer them over to a memory stick (as is the case with PSP games), or convert them to eboots and do the same (PS1 games). The only thing that is hurt by this decision is Sony. Here is a market of people still willing to support them through the purchase of older games, and Sony is essentially telling them to go bootleg instead of pay them.

Maybe its just me, but this stinks of Nintendo's old "We're big enough to not need third party game support" stint with the N64.

Pretty sure that's a tiny market. Those people are already running the iso's they easily found.
