Spam War, Round 3Follow

#1 Oct 16 2009 at 5:18 PM Rating: Decent
goes to NCSoft! With the 1.5.0.10 patch (on 10/16) the chat channels fell silent in amazement.

Of course, it will not last, as the RTM-ers will find a way around it, but now that they have a handle on it, fixes when RTM breaks through should come faster now.

Way to go, NCSoft! /cheer

I have gotten ingame spam-mail, and /whispers, but I have not seen a single chat channel spam since about an hour after the patch update.

I have. They just spaced out the lettering and made it look super bad.

Yeah, it looks almost Japanese; but you can still make out the "www". And, it has hearts or smileys mixed in with it sometimes.

Although, I only had to block one spammer the last time I was on. I don't know what it is like on other servers.

I believe that the next patch will see a more aggressive approach from NCSoft...I guess we shall see on the 24th.

Well, if 24hr GM support is on the horizon, I would hope that'd include someone monitoring chat channels and banning accordingly.

Of course, this is pretty much a shining example of how filters can fail. FFXI people have been clamoring for them to stop the RMT tells, but they'll just readjust their language and keep on spamming.

Well just logged in and screen filled up with chat so NC lost again within a few days. Like I said they'll have to delete accounts and block game codes to win this.

I just started playing Aion, and this was the first thing I noticed, was the constant barrage of spam's.

A few ignore's, and they stopped, but I am sure that will be a temporary solution as they keep creating character's to spam.
