Will a laptop be powerful enough?Follow

#1 Dec 27 2009 at 4:49 PM Rating: Decent
I am hoping to start soon. I was going to buy a new laptop for this but a friend said I needed a desktop to run this, said video cards in laptops aren't powerful enough. True? Anybody successfully using a laptop to play this adventure? Any input would be helpful

Plenty of people play loTRO on laptops.

Post specs of the one you are thinking of buying and you will recieve more useful input.

shared video memory never works out well. You really need all your ram to run the game so loaning some to a weak vid card is not the answer.

If you have to play on a laptop you'll really need to invest in a "gaming laptop" - one that has the best CPU & vid card available along with a lot of ram.

A good example of these is the ASUS line featuring quad core intel chips and the new Nvdea vid cards. Like this one:

It will set you back $1500 but it will rock your world!!!

I got one of these babies a couple of months ago. It will run pretty much anything, and doesn't break the bank:)

See that's what I'm talkin' about!

ASUS computer
Intel core duo processor
Nvidia 260M vid card
4GB system ram

THAT is a gaming laptop!!!

I have an HP with an AMD Turion 64 Mobile, 1.58 GHz, 1.00 GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200 series video card.

It works alright, but is significantly slower than my wife's laptop (I gave her the good one to keep her interest up).

I would definitely prefer a faster system, but need to be able to play on the road, since I travel frequently. But any decent laptop available now would work decently - but you'll always be wanting more!
