The combat itself is extremely dynamic... Bayonetta's fighting style is a lot like Eddy Gordo's in Tekken, only with guns attached to her feet and hands that are constantly spraying bullets everywhere. She can deal a lot of pain all around very quickly. Once you get used to the controls it becomes much less of a button mash and starts to feel graceful and stylish-- the way it feels when you get really good at a good fighting game with a certain character.
I'd say bad example, Eddy owns everyone when you just button mash x and o. :3 (And it lewks graceful!)

Also, be warned that this game is
hard as ****Nintendo Hard. If it weren't for the unlimited continues it would feel a lot like the old Ninja Gaidan games on the NES (and kind of like the new ones as well)
The demo was easy. There are a lot of points in the game that feel like they would be impossible to do without dying at least once. You can't button mash and expect to win. You have to first get an understanding of how monsters (especially bosses) attack and move, then learn to counter each move they make. If that's still just "button mashing" then I guess it's time for them to hurry and come out with games we control with our minds.
