I couldn't find the proper place to ask this question on these forums, and I generally love the helpful/friendly vibe I feel here most of the time. So I thought I'd ask the Alla community.
I'm very excited about the upcoming FFXIII and I reserved a copy on the 360. But I'm hearing that the 360 version is gonna be compressed and if I want to see/hear/feel everything at it's best I should invest in a PS3, which is fine. But since I'm going the PS3 route, now I think I need a TV... lol.
My brother is looking into getting ride of his 37" flat screen, but it's 790. So instead I've been thinking of getting a 40" that displays in 1080p. On a 37" or 40" tv, would you really notice the difference? And even if it's slightly minimal, my bro is selling his tv for $100 less than the 1080p 40" I saw at best buy. Any suggestions from people who know their PS3's & HD TVs? Thanks!

the games isn't displayed in more then 720 i think, anyhow you whont' notice any diference between 720 and 1080 on anything less then 42"

Actually, I believe it is anything less than 32". Any only the gameplay is displayed in 720. The cutscenes are 1080p.

It'll be interesting to see a game that was actually designed for the PS3 played on both consoles. Most (if not all) cross-platform games to date were designed for the 360 and ported to the PS3.

I know right? I'm very interested in seeing how this game is gonna perform on the 360. Well, interested in *hearing* how it'll perform. I'm def gonna buy a 1080p 40" HDTV & PS3 so I can get the most out of this experience. Ugh, I'm breaking the bank over the next few months in a MAJOR way... *sigh* I'm very excited though!

I'm buying it for the PS3. Just for the sole reason of finally having a game that I'll want to play on my PS3.
