Having only watched someone play through ME1, I've been *REALLY* enjoying ME2.

Jack is damn amazing.

That's because you're stuck in the final frontier.

I did Tali in the first game, it was awesome. Really wish she were still a possibility Smiley: frown.

Also, I play the female Shepard, which makes it so much more awesome. Hopefully I can still woo Jack... I bet she's nice and kinky.

I started ME2, but then I started watching Lost on Netflix.

One week, 1 episode left of Season 2.

I will be preoccupied for a bit longer.

I've been watching my husband play ME2...he lets me do all of the talking, which is fun, and I do like the option to interrupt conversations. The orange and green color scheme hurts my eyes, though, and I can't read half of the dialogue options, which is really annoying. It's seems a lot more FPS-y than the first game, though--ME1, I think I might be able to handle on one of the easier settings, ME2, no way.

All complaints aside, though, they added in the one thing I was really, really hoping for, so I'm pretty happy with it.

On Direct2Drive there is currently a pair of ME bundles: ME1+ ME2, and ME1 + "Digital Deluxe Edition" ME2, priced at $64.95 and $71.95 respectively. By themselves, ME1 is $19.99, ME2 is $49.95, and the deluxe ME2 is $59.95.

ME2 Deluxe
ME 1+2 bundle
ME1+ Deluxe ME2 bundle

Are any of these bundles worth the asking price, and is the "Digital Deluxe Edition" worth it at all? I don't own and haven't played ME1, so a bundle would save me a (very little) bit of money. Is Mass Effect 2 worth getting now, or should I wait a few months for the price to come down?

I would wait for the price to come down, normally at that time Bioware will rebundle it with some of the DLC included.

Probably best to wait. Also, the digital deluxe version isn't worth it imo.

About what I figured. Just wanted an outside opinion or two. :)

Think I'll maybe get the first one, play it through, and reevaluate after I'm done when I wanna pick up the second one.

Don't worry, you will. The first one is great, and the second is even better.

Played through 2 times now. First time as vangaurd with answering the questions like I actually would or felt like atm. So I ended up with a mix of paragon and renegade. Vangaurd will spoil you though. Once you start getting upgraded shotgun damage and charge ohh man... Charge is totally epic. You can zip around the room slamming into one guy after another and while they are behing blasted back you lay into them with the shotgun. BLAM BLAM BLAM! So fun. Can get you dead though if you charge a big pack or did not notice you left your flank way open. Hooked up with Miranda just to get it over with. Did not really dig her.

Second time through played a Renegade Sentinel. Evil Cyborg scar face with glowing red eyes effect is cool. Plus you get tech armor, overload, and warp. Biotics + Tech + Strong defense is a pretty versitile combo. Not as massively I CRUSH YOUR FACE NOW as vangaurd but once you get the addition weapon and pick up a ranged rifle or sniper rifle you are so good to go. Hooked up with Jack in the paramour way, meaning I turned down the casual fling to go for the emo cut scene hook up at the end. Jack is my favorite character. I don't normally dig tatoo's but her face is purty and her broken wing bird badgirl story is compelling. Oh and Zaeed is totally cool too they were my favorite 2 to bring with Renegade style responses.

I'm going to play one more time on hard mode with an Adept or a Soldier I think and try for pure Paragon with a fem Sheppy. So far all three games in this new genre of RPS that bioware created are all fantastic. ME1 DA:O and ME2. Can't wait for more of either series.

As far as I know the DLC is all free. At least what's out now is.

I should probally give a critique as well:

Load times for PC. Holy crap they are bad. It should not take 5 minutes to go from floor 2 to floor 3 of my own GD ship.

Hacking. I fugging hate it. It's not hard. Either match up game is not really hard. Just annoying and provides no entertainment value to the game.

Aside from that a hell of a fun game though.

Oh wait one more... less mining. It was kinda fun for a minute. But i dont want to molest planets with my cursor for as long as you have to in this game to get the resources you need to upgrade everything.

I just bought the game and I'm a bit curious about something. Back when I bought Dragon Age: Origins, it came with a code for Blood Dragon Armor, which in DO:A was just about the best armor set you can get for tanking. That same code also allows me to get a set of Blood Dragon Armor in ME2 with:

    * Increases power damage by 15%
    * Increases shield strength by 10%

The bit I'm curious about is how good is that armor compared to the rest of the armor in the game?

Wouldn't know, haven't had a chance to play. I just downloaded the 3 DLC packs for free for ME2 though.

When you buy the game new you get a code to join the Cerberus network (it's fifteen dollars to buy a code if you didn't get the game new). Once you've joined the network you can download a new character, Zaeed, and his accompanying back story mission, a set of armor with a matching shotgun, and access to the Normandy crash site, which is basically a pretty lame fetch quest worth a couple hundred EXP. Also, they are planning on releasing this vehicle at some point in the future.

I'm finding the game a bit repetitive and timesinky. It's basically, walk around, talk to people, get into a fight, cover, shoot, power, repeat until mobs stop spawning. Then there is the painfully boring but annoyingly necessary mining, which I can't even determine why it left development in the state that it's in. It takes entirely too much time to gather even a small portion of the resources you need, and is just not fun.

The graphics are impressive and the dialog is decent, except for Shepard's, the voice actor behind him needs a few more acting lessons. The thing that really annoys me though is that I can't skip through a conversation, even if I use the subtitles. I can read much faster than they can speak, so why do I have to sit there and listen to them? Not being able to skip ahead leads to long periods of just sitting there watching characters talk at you.

Finally, the interior of the ship is just plain dumb. It's fairly small, and yet it's broken up into four separate areas with a loading screen between each. When you get on the ship and the annoying girl tells you that you have a new message, you have to walk to the elevator and sit through a loading screen to get to your quarters to get to your terminal to read the message, half of which are just thanks and congratulations for doing whatever it is you've done recently. Then you have to sit through the loading screen again to get back to the bridge to move the ship to wherever it is you want to go next.

If it weren't for the excessive time sinks, the game would take about half as long as it does for a play through. I don't hate the game, but I don't like it nearly as much as I would have if the developers hadn't gotten so caught up in writing dialog and recording the voice actors that they forgot to vary the game play and eliminate needless time sinks.

I have no trouble using spacebar to skip through a conversation.

There's also a private terminal on the opposite side of the galaxy map (left of kelly).

My 360 controller doesn't have a space bar on it. I've tried every single button and nothing will let me skip through a conversation.
