Amazing, though slightly grindtastic. I spent four hours just blowing stuff up while dodging local military forces and while the graphics never get old (the sound and visual effects are amazing), the gameplay does.

That is, until I found out how to do missions. Now I'm hooked for real!

this sounds very familiar lol...

Yeah first few hours of play i didnt accomplish much at all, also didnt explore but a fraction of the HUGE island. Then i found out how to take over the military bases and stuff. Also noticed i could detach a minigun from a turret and ******* walk around with it.

Great game though!

It's a little annoying that you need to collect all the crates to take over places completely. I find myself running around a completely smashed up base looking for some silly hidden crate of +1 Armor Parts so I can get the '100% done' stamp of approval.

Why does this game sound like the first Mercenaries game?

Yeah, but I have a tendency to just exit the helicopter mid-air, flushing 30k down the toilet in the process. I think my best purchase so far was when I bought a monster truck while on a highway bridge. The thing got dropped off with two wheels over the edge, just enough for gravity to do the rest. Smiley: facepalm

Of course, I could always go shoot someone and wait for the local military to send a chopper my way, but usually they don't just send one - and they don't leave me alone afterwards either.

Can you still freefall 30,000 feet, open your parachute 10 inches above the ground, then hit the ground, go ragdoll, and take no damage?

I tried nicking a chopper from a base, but apparently I missed a SAM site.

bsphil, the parachute opens up really fast and almost instantly takes you from a downwards fall to a forward gliding fall. I tried killing myself by opening the parachute too late, but at tree-top altitude, it would open up just in time to send me gliding along the ground.

yeah the SAM sites are sneaky sometimes haha. but ive found the SAMs to be somewhat dodgeable and the sam sites die very fast. and if you lose your chopper during it, the chopper respawns pretty quick.

Fun trick btw, double grapple a bad guy to a passing F4 phantom that is prepping for takeoff. good times.

Reminds me of last night. Was standing on some tall bridge somewhere and had lots of bad guys coming in on me. I grappled one of them to a chopper and then blew the chopper out of the sky. Chopper fell down and dragged the screaming guy out over the edge.

This game is serious therapy. Almost as good as Overlord.

I just rented this game and have to say I am pretty impressed. I think it could have been made a little better though. Like another poster said having to collect all the crates to get 100% is kinda lame. When I first started playing it I thought it was going to be another boring linear do this do that kinda game, but after completing the Casino stage I found it was not.
