This guys doing a live feed of a FF8 no junction or leveling playthrough and it's pretty entertaining if you ever liked FF8. Plus he's saying some pretty ridiculous stuff, haha.
"We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary." — James D. Nicoll
But really, it's a lame idea. Not leveling in FF8 is easy, because the levels NPCs is based on the average level of your active characters. If you're level 5, they're level 5. If you're 100, they're 100. Leveling up also gives the NPCs new attacks and spells. Not leveling up is the best way to play.
Not junctioning, however, is just stupid. You're left with nothing but Attack and Limit. You're completely helpless on fights where the enemies blind you. You can't heal in combat except by Selphie's Limits. I know of dozens of boss fights where you'll just die if you can't heal. The last boss's last phase is entirely impossible, as she knocks everyone to 1 HP and then casts Ultima or Meteor or Apocalypse.
I just got done beating this game a couple days ago, it was pretty good. Sorry I missed that, that would have been interesting to watch, although I do agree that not leveling dumbs down the game entirely and doesn't really add any challenge. Did you watch it to the end Lestat? I'm interested to see if he was able to complete it w/out junctions.
I would be more interested if he was doing a play through of FFXIII.
I dunno if I would find watching a movie of a guy mashing X through a 40ish hour movie interesting, just saying.

Heh, I have FFXIII on the 360 and PS3, but I am playing the 360 version for achievements and there is something I noticed on the 360 version (not sure if the PS3 version is the same).
As soon as you load up the game (as in turning ON the game), and before ANYTHING else shows up on the screen.. you get a prompt to "Hit any button to continue"... What is the deal with that?

It's SEs slap in the face for buying the 360 version.

Quite possible given Japan's general hatred of all things X-Box. Well there is Idolmaster, but there is an exception to every rule I guess.

Not gonna lie... I played the card game to turn them into magic, and then junctioned them to a Squall who was extremely low level. The game was pitifully easy as a result.
But I was only interested in the story anyway. Gameplay wasn't anything special.
HP- Quake-- Takes 15 Armadodo cards.
Str- Tornado-- Takes 15 Abyss Worm cards.
VIt- Regen-- Takes 15 Mesmerize cards.
Mag- Death/Pain--10 Tonberry cards or 30 Tri Face cards.
Spr- Curaga-- From Tents, if I recall, not cards.
These weren't the BEST stats, no. Things like Ultima were better, and there may have been others. But they were easy to get playing the card game for an hour or two, which vastly shortened the rest of the game.
Ideally, you'd use Pain for the Magic stat and junction Death to your Status Attack stat. And then for Status Defense you could put something like full Esuna and something else, making you nearly immune to everything. And full Shell/something else on your Resists. :P
I thought about doing a challenge run through on FFX once, but decided against it. It just ends up being a ton more grinding more than anything. Either to get the items for gear you need or to buff whatever toon you are using. If I want a challenge, I'll just fight Yunalesca with average levels without zombie/death-proof gear.
God, what a b*tch she was.

Draw---->Cast
Draw requires a junctioned GF. Edit: Specifically, a GF with the Draw character ability. Of course, they all start with it, but you can make them forget it so they can learn some rare GF ability instead. If you make enough forget Draw, you might accidentally junction them all to the same person and you can't use it until you switch them up again.

Huh? I didn't even know how to get zombie- or death-proof gear. I just farmed soooo many holy waters.
I would of liked to see a FF7 run with Cloud left dead for the whole game, and then see him owning Sephiroth as a lv 5 (?). If I still have the game I'd try a no materia run.
