The most frustrating thing about the whole ordeal was the fact that I entered their damn captcha over 30 times, and it continually told me I was wrong.

The problem with Live is that it hides **** from you, and that it doesn't tell you that there's an offline option. ****** over my whole Fallout 3 installation when it got around to that crap. After spending some time online, I found a way to completely and utterly remove Windows Live from the equation, and managed to use the game as the game's designers had made it.

**** Live. **** it in the eye. It's the single most pathetic piece of software I have ever seen. Tried to get the expansions to FO3 once, through it. What did it do? If I wanted to play the game without using the online Live account, I actually had to break into it's secret little headquarters on my computer, find some hidden folders and manually tear the damn things from it's grubby little claws.

From that moment on, I made sure that I never again bought a game with the Live tag on it.

I just don't like digital downloads. I don't like not being able to resell them, don't like not being able to take them to a friends, don't like being forced to be online to use them. I just don't like them.

Direct2Drive gives you physical files you can copy to a disk to keep, even Steam lets you "backup" your games to DVDs. Not sure if you would still need Steam to play the backups, and if Steam ever shuts down they will most likely provide a final update you can download to fully play them offline.

Im sure a lot of people would agree, but it comes down to cost. If a game, digitally, costs 50 bucks, and i can go to the store and get the same game as a hard copy for 50 bucks, im going to the store and getting the hard copy.

However, when you have a game like this, selling for 20 bucks on Steam rather than 40 bucks, i definitely decide against the hardcopy. All about the benjamins.

ETA daily Steam sales lately have been pretty meh. Notable ones today are Street fighter 4 for 10 bucks, Osmos for $2.50 and some Numen game ive never heard of, but it looks kinda neat.

For me, it's as much about saving physical space as saving money. I'm far from a prolific gamer, and I have boxes of games just sitting around gathering dust. Why add to the mess, when I can get a (relatively) painless digital download?

Which is why it sucks *** that so many games are using steamworks, and what sucks even more is gamers BEG for this to be added yet they absolutely RAGE at the mere thought of securom, where steamworks on a retail disc is so much worse.

Steamworks is a gay bath house in England, while Securom is one of the crappiest pieces of game DRM software ever invented. IIRC a few versions of the software even managed to brick some people's PCs.

How many PC games can you resell? None as far as I was aware of.

I prefer D2D because I get the files and keys, Steam is nice though because I can install games to any machine fairly painlessly. My wife and I share a Steam account which is OK for now, but when she's done with class I can see clashes because only one computer can be logged in at the same time.

Only one computer can be logged in at a time, but if you are playing a game on one computer and someone logs into your account and starts another game on their computer most of the time it will not kick you off of your game.

LOL, they raised the price on Beat Hazard by $5 just so they could slap the discount on it. Isn't Borderlands mostly multiplayer or do they give you 3 other AI's to help with the missions?

Borderlands works on the same system as Diablo. Everything is completely soloable, and if people join your game then the difficulty goes up to compensate. Unlike Diablo, everyone has to be in the same area, so you won't have people idling in town making your game harder or anything like that. It's a pretty good game, though the plot is absolutely horrible.

my advice to people regarding Borderlands is if you dont have friends you plan to play with, don't even bother with it. Furthermore, i think its better on a console where you can do local co-op.

Horribly Awesome!

Seriously, best DLCs of any game I've ever owned. As long as you don't take Borderlands too seriously it is amazing, tons of pop culture references/bizarre humor and extremely satisfying gameplay. It's certainly worth more than 10$.

PC LAN w/ Keyboard+mouse is much much easier. I tried split screen on 360 version and it made my eyes bleed (plus squished menus are awkward).

I hit level 50 before the DLCs were released. When you hit max level, it scales all of the enemies and loot up so they're still a challenge to you. Unfortunately, in the DLC, the scaling is way too high, to the point where my hunter would lose all his shields - 1200 or so - in a single hit from an enemy, and be on the ground in one or two more. It was completely impossible for me to enjoy most of the DLC like that, although The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned was still quite good. The rest of the DLC might be good for a lower level character who doesn't have such ridiculous scaling issues, but I never had the chance to try it out. The plot, however, is still horrible in all of them, and horrible in a way that does not mean good. They have their funny moments, to be sure, but there's no story to speak of, which is a shame because the idea had potential.

As for console vs PC, I've done co-op on both, and they're equally acceptable. The splitscreen gets annoying for trying to read menus or item stats - you have to keep scrolling right to read the stats, then left to see your inventory again. On the other hand, if you prefer playing on a console, that's hardly enough to be a real deterrent.
