APB came out yesterday and I was wondering if anyone here played. I havent yet, but am considering it.

It has an intriguing payment plan where you get 50 hours of game time with the purchase of the game, and after that can opt to pay a 10 dollar monthly fee, or 7 dollars for 20 hours of play time. Play time is only deducted in the zones where you do missions and stuff and you can play in the social zones for free.

third person shooter MMO, cops and robbers - ish, kinda like GTA, PvP centered game play.

IGN has a preliminary review up detailing their impressions from the first few days of release:

I've been following the game's progression loosely for a while. Can't say I'm particularly impressed by what I'm seeing at the release, however. The combat looks absolutely spastic and bizarre. The customization system seems amazing, but I don't think it's enough to convince me to give APB a shot.

It looks..odd. Watch Mike play it in the 2 part BFF Report.
I think I would get in trouble playing APB.

Reading about it, it doesn't seem like my kind of game. Which is too bad because the customization looks fun. But not "$50 for a new game" fun.

Yeah, lots of customization, including in game music, and you can make 'theme songs' that other players will hear when you defeat them, or something like that... which could be pretty funny.

I might wind up getting a copy of this, once they bring their startup price down a bit, I'm with Joph, not for fifty bucks. Looks and sounds like it could be interesting enough, but the starting impressions I've been seeing aren't making me want to buy it any more. Maybe once they bring the price down, and flesh out the tutorial/questing/whole shebang a bit more.
