Which reminds me that I still haven't gotten Awakenings yet.

Yeah Awakening's was kind of a "cash in" DLC. If you can get it for cheap off steam or something its worth a few hours of play. I hope they take their time with this new one and make it epic again.

Major, major, major fail is that apparantly, you won't have all the origins again. You'll get a male or a female character and that be all.

Kind of sad, customizing my own warden rocked so much in Dragon Age.

Oh, and I hope they have better PS3 support. I'm not entirely content with the way I got to play Dragon Age on my PS3...

I think I'm liking the proposed changes to the game form, actually. As long as I can customize the main character's appearance, I'm set. The new dialogue format sounds appealing. My only reservation is the lack of multiple origin stories, but I'm anticipating that they'll include more ways for the storylines to diverge early in order to compensate for that loss.

Honestly, I don't see a huge difference between the art styles, so I don't know why that was being stressed. The graphics do look a bit better which is nice. But I actually love the style of that first concept art image, with the mage. I wish that was the aesthetic of the actual game!

My biggest hope for the new game is added variety in weapons/armor. Reskinned equipment is the biggest bummer about DA:O for me thusfar (I'm still working on finishing my first play-through...almost done).

This.

One thing I love about WoW is how stats scale almost exponentially as the game's life has gone on. It really gives you a sense of progress when, at max level, you're hitting for almost twelve times the amount of health you had when you first started with each attack.

I would like to see the game give you better and better loot as the game goes on to give you an actual sense of progression. It really adds to a game, I think.

EDIT: What was I on when I typed this? Fixed some typos and grammatical crap.

I really hope that there is some form of multiplayer, like in the Balder's Gate games. Even if you couldn't group up for the main storyline, but they had co-op hunts or something, it'd be really cool.

The armor I got for preordering the game lasted from the moment I could equip it to the end of the game. Any other gear I found went on party members. Actually, the same goes for the armor I got for ME2 when I preordered DA:O. I wouldn't be surprised to see the same thing this time around too.

There are better armor sets than that, though. You can play through plenty of games without going all-out in your gear upgrades.

Actually, no, there isn't. For the type of character I played as, it's by far the best armor in the base game. There are a couple sets in the DLCs that are better, but I never bothered to buy those.

I'd use Wade's Superior Dragonbone Plate Armor set over Blood Dragon Armor. The stamina regen is too good to pass up, IMO.

Yeah, but you can't typically play through games without upgrading your gear at all, which is what Turin did. Even without going all-out, you'd expect to run across an upgrade from a required storyline quest, at the very least.

Well, I don't think you can start out with the 38 STR needed to equip it, so the set became his eventual upgrade. It's not like you can throw that set on at level 1 and ride it out the entire game.

Not to mention the Blood Dragon armor looked terrible in ME2, total design clash. I changed it out in DA though just because I got sick of looking at it. It's not as if you need to min/max in single player games anyway. I put on new armor sets just to see them for a while and look cool while I do my thing. ;)

More loot variety is always good though.

Blood Dragon Armor got nerfed incredibly hard a while back, so it's actually pretty terrible now. It's basically just a cool-looking set you'd wear if you power leveled up to 38 strength and haven't done the Dalish quests yet (the Juggernaut Armor set is far superior to it now, with the same str cost).

Only in the PC version. It's still the original set on the 360.

It got nerfed on the PS3, too.

And even on the 360, it's still inferior to the Juggernaut set, due to the latter's 20% magic resistance. And it is WAY inferior to Cailan's armor (though that requires DLC).

I finally found a store that had Dragon Age: Origins (other stores only had Awakening), and I'm now installing it.

Since you guys have been talking so much about the downloadable content to the game, how vital is it for a newbie to go out and get that stuff? Is it like Fallout 3 where it just added some extra missions and weaponry, or is it stuff that improves the existing game with patches and stuff? I don't want to fork over $200 or whatever the entire thing costs if it's just extra missions and shinier armor.

It's been a long time Maz since I played it but I'm thinking "Shale" the golum was worth it. Fun character who adds a nice chunk to part of the future story. I also liked the Warden's Keep for the story there the armor and the other extra's.

I think they used to be like $7 ea. There's prolly more now but those are the two I remember.

Personally, I was never compelled to get the DLC, and I never felt like I was missing out.

There is an obnoxious NPC at your camp who prompts you to buy the DLC if you try to begin his quest. Penny Arcade did a nice comic about him.

I got all the DLC and wasnt impressed with any of it, in fact wardens keep was just entirely disappointing. If I did it again I would skip all those. Shale is an interesting character, but I never used him.
