I thought so.
You thought so what? The game is awesome and they have a bit of a goofy counter-intuitive scheme for where they place their save files. I was mildly annoyed and felt like ********* Since there was a thread here and my roommates were still sleeping, I figured I'd go for it.

You didnt get it. its ok though.
I'm up several hours past my bedtime because I've been playing Mass Effect 2. Smiley: frown

I don't care at all about lolKarma or I would obviously stop posting on this topic, I only brought it up earlier to point out that Bard's comment about giving justifications for my opinion wasn't actually a productive step towards reasonable conversation, as people will defend Bioware to the death regardless of the level of double think they are required to use in order to attempt to justify their continual expenditures.

Of course people'll continue to defende the game and buy DLC for it IF THEY LIKE THE GAME. I don't quite see what you hoped to achieve by actually discussing it, if you know they'll like it and you don't. Get real, does it bother you that much that others have fun for their 60 bucks and you don't/didn't?

Personal, fairly aggresive, bull aside;

I find that the best thing about Dragon Age: Origins, was the fact that it was detailed. Everything, and I mean everything, seemed to have a backstory of sorts. I personally felt the story was interesting, I'd started my second playthrough only to feel bad about killing all of the elves for a trophy and not continuing afterwards.

I quite liked the entire romancing thing, too. And I quite like the option to pretty much disrespect a religion to the point of eating their prophet's ashes. That aside, all I'm saying is, it's subjective.

Shinta, you have MW2 and Fable 2 on your list there. I consider Call of Duty to be the same crap every year, only with reskinned weapons and updated graphics. Fable II, well, the waiting mini-game killed any enthusiasm I had for that game, only to just quit and stuff it back on my brother's shelve, right where I think it belongs.

However, other people liked them, so what should I care?

(Sidenote: Cheshire Cat ftw!)
Holy crap! Somebody who actually sounds semi-reasonable O_o!

I do feel a little resentful that I was mislead into spending the time/money (even if it was only 10$ for me, yay rentals) on a game that I feel was horrible in almost every aspect. When it came out this and this were how the game was portrayed to me, while this is closer to what I actually got. Maybe it was completely unrealistic, but I was hoping Bioware would have learned it's lesson from ME and focused on implementing interesting combat instead of just text volume, but whatever. Despite Maj/idi's childish suppositions, obviously no one is trying to force me to play it again and I have no expectation that this conversation will stop Idi from mindlessly shelling out more money every time Bioware tells him to. I posted and continue to post in this thread purely because I have some opinion on the matters within that I'd like to discuss. I'm sure Idi doesn't expect Bioware to not charge him because he wrote a thread complaining about it, or me to change my mind about DA:O just because he insulted me and called my points "unfair". To pretend that every post has or needs to have some overarching motive and strategy behind it seems a bit absurd (or maybe paranoid?).

On that note though, the whole notion that I should have just accepted that other peoples subjective opinions as immutable facts and not try to challenge them is incredibly hypocritical in itself. After all, if that was the case there would be no reason for anyone to challenge my first post(s) as well correct? My subjective opinion is that Bioware and the games they produce suck, so if the rest of the posters gave me the same level of regard that you expect me to give Idi, no one would have bashed this opinion either.

DA:O- Given that you readily admit the overabundance of detail/backstory/romancing/etc instead of pretending it's not there, you could certainly see how someone who really just wants to slaughter orcs darksomethings would feel that it gets in the way of what would traditionally be considered the "core gameplay," which was unimpressive at best, no?

CoD- Wouldn't know, don't like the series enough to shell out for it every year.

Fable2- The blacksmith one? If we're thinking of the same mini-game, I probably did it once then never bothered with it again. Most of my money making came from real-estate manipulation and bandit hunting. Given that you claim to enjoy the mundane relationship management and faux plot variance from DA:O, I would have thought Fable 2 would have had more appeal to you since it focuses on them as well. Unless it's the actual abundance of text itself that you enjoy and not the implied meaning behind it?

Way to miss the point yet again. I don't give a damn if you hold an opposing position or not. All I care about is that you not be a massive asshole when talking about it.

That's like saying that you thought Starcraft II was going to be like this, then being upset that it was actually this.

fixed that second link for you, since his comparison was a completely ludicrous exaggeration, yet again.

Ah, here I had just assumed that his last link was an actual DA:O gameplay clip. That'll learn me.

Not at all, I don't care about Fable's gameplay at all, neither do I like the graphics much, actually. Dragon Age, to me, felt detailed and interesting. Fable felt mundane and stale. I can't really comment on it too much, since I didn't get that far into it, but I honestly didn't really like what I saw and played.

As for this:

I do think you're taking your dislike for Bioware a bit too far, other people can still like it even if you don't. If nobody had any opinions, though, there wouldn't be any discussion at all.

"I thought so" as in "I thought so, too, but then people got mad at me for ***************

That's how I understood it, anyway.

Edit: Ugh, third page. Missed that.

That's what you consider productive conversation now, right?

Man, you get butthurt easy. It's kinda sad, really.

and the cycle of "completely ludicrous exaggeration" continues.

I never said they couldn't like it, nor do I expect everyone to go one way or the other (some people just have bad taste), nor did I expect people to suddenly change their minds because I said it sucks, nor did I expect people to suddenly change their minds because I provided more detailed reasons why I felt that way as requested.

I said I didn't like them, I explained why I didn't like them, and I defended by justifications. Don't confuse your/Idi/Maj's silly straw men and childish ad hominem attacks with my actual position.

Yet apparantly, you still have trouble accepting that people have DIFFERENT taste, rather than bad taste.

And it being a "Completely ludicrous exaggeration"...? I thought I was being nice.
