So, the new Fallout comes out tomorrow. Anyone going to a midnight release for it? Already have it preloaded on Steam (I do!)? I've been looking forward to it all month.

You'll have to let me know how it is.

Personally, I'll be buying DJ Hero 2 tomorrow. It was one or the other and I'm fine with waiting for Steam to put Fallout on sale.

No interest in DJ Hero, but I will be getting Fallout:NV at some point. Probably when it goes on sale.

I just can't see how it can be fun. I honestly thought it was a joke the first time I heard about it.

It's actually the music that makes it great, but I don't want to pollute this NV thread too much so to each their own.

No more midnight releases for me, GTA 4 was my last. I will be making a beeline to Gamestop at 4:30PM.

Already paid for the collector's edition. I'm not going to the midnight release tonight though. I have to be at work at 8:30 in the morning and I only got about three hours sleep last night. Gaming all night just isn't in the books. I also already bought Fable 3 and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. I have no idea how I'm gong to find the time to play them all.

I pre-ordered it on steam and got the download completed this weekend. Had a bit of a dilemma today at lunch though, got a text from a new **** buddy of mine saying he wanted to take me to the gym tomorrow, which means he hopes that there won't be too many people in the shower room IFUKNOWUTIMSAYIN

In all honesty I had to think long and hard (haha) about what I wanted to do, rush home after work and play Fallout, or get laid. So, I did what I naturally do when I have a choice to make, and I really don't want to pick one over the other.

I flipped a coin.

Fate wants me to get laid.

Can't argue with that. The game will always be waiting for you, but you might not be so lucky (or maybe you will be, hah) with a friend in a public gym shower.

I'll be waiting to hear some reviews on NV, or for a big sale, before I even consider buying it. I loved Fallout 3, but it just seems like NV is the exact same game. I don't think I'd feel right paying for something that just appears to be a Fallout 3 expansion pack.

I'm approaching NV skeptically and hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I sure wish that the graphics had been improved, or that the experience was changed a bit more than it appears, so that I didn't have any reservations about the game.

Didn't help to see Rage get demo'd recently, either. That game looks like the game that Fallout ought to be by now.

Pre-ordered a while back. Going to pick it up at midnight tonight. Plan on playing it until I pass out, much like I did with ME2. Took a vacation day for tomorrow.

Grrr, I could have sworn I read an extended preview of the game in my GI issue this month, but now I can't find the issue or find it on their site. At any rate, I remember reading that it is indeed a very good game and while the setting is similar to Fallout 3, it is very distinct as well. Sorry I can't give you more than that, but at least it may keep your hopes up :).

Take the basic gameplay of Fallout 3, throw in some of the original developers on Fallout 1 & 2, move to vegas, then shake em' up and add a **** ton more weapons & voice actors and you'll get Fallout: NV.

Got it pre-loaded on the PC and ready to fire up when I get home from work Tuesday AM. It looks like it'll be slightly more RPG-y with better production value. Matthew "Friends" Perry, Felicia "The Guild/ Dr. Horrible" Day, & Kris "Country singer, Whistler from Blade" Kristopherson are all possible companions. You also have the ability to turn VATs off if you want to play more of a straight up shooter, & a hardcore mode where stimpacks heal over time & things like eating, drinking, & sleeping really matter.

Can't ******* wait.

As much as I want to play it, I believe my roommate wants to play it more, so in the interest of my wallet, I'll be waiting a few days until he realizes it's out and rushes to the store to get it.

Just had my first freeze up surprise, surprise. I have a feeling the content will far outweigh the headache of the technical issues. So far I've been killing a lot of people and stealing lots of stuff.

Forced myself to stop after four hours. So far no issues other than a couple small graphical glitches. A bit of flicker on the mountains in the distance, and saw one of those big horned Brauman looking things get it's head stuck in the ground (playing on 360). I'm liking the new crafting system, especially being able to break down ammo and convert it into more useful forms. That Sunny Smiles chick has an annoying *** voice though. I thought about trying to kill her, but I don't want to risk pissing of the townsfolk until I can find a new store to sell my loot to. I'm only level 3 and I already have my Repair skill up to 40, it would be higher, but making Speech skill actually mean somerhing forced me to get it up to 25 for a quest I wanted.

Thus far, it's pretty much Fallout 3-2 with slightly smoother graphics (It's still using the Unreal engine) & new toys. Books now give you a temporary boost to stats (there may be others that give permanent boosts, but I haven't found them) & most consumables (except for stimpacks) heal over time. My repair skill isn't high enough to break down bullets and mod weapons, but it seems as if your repair skill doesn't have a bearing on how you can repair a weapon too so much as how much you repair the weapon when combining it with the same one (So, you can repair any weapon to 100%, provided you have enough of the weapons to do so).

I all ready have quite a few weapons only 4 hours in or so & am a bit surprised that despite having 50 skill in guns, my plasma gun seems to be my best ranged weapon and my spiked knuckles (at only 13 skill) kill radscorpians better than any of my guns. Might have to put more into unarmed & punch some more stuffs.

The shotgun you get from preorder is pretty inaccurate, but when it hits it seems to do very good damage. I have yet to replace the armor received from the preorder. Haven't found a better helmut than the goggled one that give you DR 3, so I'm sticking with a cowboy hat most of the time atm.

Loving it, and most of what I would say has been said. But a word of warning. Unlike Fallout 3, this game does not want you wandering into nasty areas too early. My little level 4 person with a laser pistol was not prepared for that random nest of mutated wasps of doom outside of vegas.....

Magazines give the temp +10 to skill. The books I have found so far give +3 to skills. I haven't had on the books wear off like the magazine did.

Spoiler Spoiler
Playing on whacky I found a bunch of red spheres next to a dead guy in a chair. I am not sure where it comes from though. I did get a kick out of Indiana Jones being a dead radiated guy in a fridge. I do like my new fedora.

To correctly use a spoiler tag, use the Spoiler button up top, or use [ spoiler ] and [ /spoiler ] (without spaces).

Watched my housemate play it for about an hour last night on the 360. It looked neat, but we could not figure out a run or sprint function, though I helpfully noticed that the character seems to run faster when his weapon is put away. Any help with that?

Also, read online that INT is the best stat to level first, as you get more skill points or some such. Didn't quite understand the logistics of different things, but that seems to make sense.

And figured out that my housemate may be dumb as a brick, when he kept repeating the beginning identifying statements trying to figure out what they were saying.

I found upgrades for everything in the pre-order in the 2nd town's hotel. It was still nice for that initial optional battle in the first town though. I didn't realize magazines wore off after X time, so I used the speech/barter ones too early and didn't have explosives up high enough to get any optional help in that fight.

So far liking it much better than Fallout 3, possibly because I actually figured out where I'm "supposed" to be going this time rather than wandering into to the final areas right away (taking out super mutants along the way with the starter rifle, gogo pathetic AI!).
