They normally won't use Bite/Crunch till the 3rd turn, they'll start off with Leer which gives you time to hit Psybeam then swap out.

I always try to hit those with leech seed or some sort of poison first thing-- or attempt to one-shot them. Otherwise they take all day to kill ><

I like to use Gyarados against electric gyms.

It's one-shot or be one-shot!

Sewaddle's cute alright, then there's Swadloon... their expression cracks me up for some odd reason.

Anyone know when/where I can get a new electric type? Blitzle's defense is attrocious--he'll die in one (max 2) hits from pretty much anything, even if they are 2 levels lower. He's filling a hole in my team against flying/water types, so I don't want to just drop him, but I'd love to change him out, ASAP.

Emolga is an electric/flying, can be found in route 5,7,9 among other places, but those are the earliest routes. Also Joltik is in Chargestone Cave, though I forget if that is before or after the electric gym.

Cool, thanks.

Also, is Darumaka (Fire) worth it? People online seem to like him, but I'm not sold. He's certainly powerful with physical attacks, but his special attack stat is awful (which would only matter if I find some special fire tms). And his special ability increases his attack by 50% at the expense of 20% accuracy--I have enough RNG trouble as it is. :/

My other option for a fire type is Pansear (which I can evolve with my fire stone whenever I want). Or no fire type at all.

Final question-- Sandile or Drillbur? I'm leaning towards the former, to get a dark time onto my battle team, but he has a lot of weaknesses. My other option is to find a way to put Scraggy in (which I'll admit is a pretty attractive option--I just have no clue who to drop).

My current battle team:

Dewott (water)
Herdier (normal)
Woobat (psychic/flying)
Roggenrola (rock)
Drillbur (ground)
Blitzle (electric)

:/

In pokemon, RNG is called hax.

That's very important, and you should always remember it.

I'd drop Herdier and replace it with something that can learn more types of moves. Also, get a Darmanitan. They are possibly the most awesome pokémon to come out of this generation.

Herdier is amazing! Once it learns Work Up and Take Down, it's very very useful. It's attack is high, it's defense is good. My Stoutland has Work Up, Take Down, Rock Smash, and Crunch. Crunch takes care of pesky psychics, Work Up Take Down combo is excellent if you are running into fainted pokemon that you can't bring out for a SE move. I gave it Rock Smash for the normal gym.

My current team is

Stoutland
Serperior
Victini (cheater I know)
Tirtouga
Zebstrika (Blitzle sucks but once he evolves he becomes pretty good, his def/sp. def still sucks, but his speed is outstanding)
Tranquill (just caught, leveling it, needed a flying)

Herdier is easily the strongest member of my team right now. Sure, nothing is weak to normal, but his crazy attack and STAB with takedown (or hell, even tackle) is seriously more than enough. He's my oh-sh*t pokemon for anything but fighting.

Funny enough I taught my Stoutland Aerial Ace so I could just imagine it dive bombing another pokemon to attack.

I bulldozed the game in about 15 hours using just 2 pokemon.
Serperior(i evolved it up real quick) and Darumaka and pretty much just used them to take out everything, including the elite 4 and the final boss(no spoiler so wont say his name) at the end.

And with how the exp share works now, its so very easy to level up lower pokemon it isnt even funny.

Yeah, you can give the Exp Share to two lower level pokemon, and give your main hitter the Lucky Egg and you have a very good xp flow going.

???

Did I not notice that they changed Exp Share, or do you get an additional one?

You get two, one from Janitor Geoff on Battle Company's 55F in Castelia City and one from the Pokemon Fan Club Chairman in Icirrius City

Do they not like dissipate exp over the pokemon now then? I'm pretty sure I have like 3-4 exp shares on one of my games from constantly transferring them.

You can get multiples

and now its not "split exp" its "split exp based on the levels of whos sharing"

so if a level 99 and a level 1 pokemon use it, the the level 1 pokemon gets 99% of the SP earned from the fight, and the level 99 gets 1%, thus making it so you can level those lower level guys that much faster to catch up to your main guys.

Ooooh, that's nice.

So if you give it to a level 17 and you are 24, your lower level will get 17/24x exp and the higher will get (24-17)/24x exp?

no
if you have a 17 and a 24he 17 will get 24/41 of the SP (you get a % of the sp based on total levels of shared pokemon in the loop of sp shares, not based on the highest level)

Ah, I see--that's a pretty nice change overall.
