Carbine's project has finally been revealed and it's a "future fantasy" MMO called WildStar. Details, screenshots and trailer here: http://www.zam.com/story.html?story=27376.

I highly recommend watching the trailer. From the initial details, I'm definitely intrigued.

UPDATE:
We just launched our WildStar Source community site! http://www.wildstarsource.com/. It's got news, media, forums and a built-in chatroom.

Trailer was good Smiley: lol

I'm interested to see how large they designed their world. The different classes (explorer, scientist, etc.) seem to revolve around doing something new and anyone that's played an MMO knows that "new" content does not last long before everyone knows everything.

Signed up for the beta. Filling out the app was a bit more than I expected, especially with the very limiting 250 characters maximum. But whatever.

Details have been released on the three confirmed WildStar races and classes in the Gamescom demo: http://www.zam.com/story.html?story=27399. There's also some gameplay footage at the link.

I'd be all over an Aurin Spellslinger.

The teleport -> chargin' mah lazr -> SHOOP DA WHOOP was pretty cool. The whole thing seemed slightly french to me for some reason. I probably won't play it though, even if it looks good. D: ffxi + tf2 + d3 + anime is going to take up waaay to much time. Oh yeah and college. But college comes after diablo 3.

I'd probably create an Aurin of each class and try em all out. Because, I mean, why would I pick one of the other races? Smiley: tongue

Fun movie, not sure I dig the over the top wide eye style on bunny chick. Steampunk duel magic pistols class sounds kind of fun.

But rut roh what do we have here in the game play video? Looks like a lot of WoW assets. Cartoony Draenai architecture that looks straight out of Burning crusade. Color me a little bored with WoW's terrain art assets atm...

*Edit which reminds me I should swap out this avatard since I'm not playing WoW atm and New Vegas owns my soul currently.

*Edit2: There that's better. (Love me some Desert Ranger Armor)

Ah yes, everything is always copied from WoW. Especially if the graphics are slightly cartoony. Smiley: rolleyes

I'm not generalizing about cartoony factor. Look at the gameplay video. The building architecture looks like it was cut out of Terrokar with a bit of extra junk added to the model. Maybe you have to have leveled about 10 toons to max over the course of 6 years to pick up on it. *shrug

And WoW was DEFINITELY not the first game to make a Terokkar-like environment. Not by a long shot.

Looks fun, but I'm not sure if three races and three "classes" are going to be awesome once the game is populated.

It's part of the ZAM Network, but we're just trying out a different design. If you have any feedback, feel free to let us know!

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood. The site doesn't use your ZAM login info. You'll need to register for a new account, but it should be quick and painless. :)

Okay, made an account, futzed around with it. Don't particularly like the Gravatard option, never been a fan of having to sign up to multiple things just to make one site functional. Think it could use a few skin options. I do like how the overall forums seem to work, though I probably wouldn't take full advantage of all the options and would probably be annoyed at people that take too much advantage of them. Really, my biggest hurdle is that to use it, I'd have to start all over and split my time between there and here. []

Oh, and that "neutral" thing, I'm guessing is similar to karma here? I'd be all over being evil for the shits-n-giggles. And the "what's on my mind" thing is interesting to say the least.

Speaking of Gravatard, doesn't seem to deal with animated gifs. Severe kill for me.
