That's how I got Reaver and Blood Mage, since I still haven't done my "evil" play through.
Who would you take on an "evil" playthrough? I'm thinking Morrigan, Zevrhan, and Oghren? Oghren's not really "bad" but if you make the "immoral" choice at the Anvil of the Void, Shale turns on you but Oghren approves. Making "evil" choices at various spots would preclude you from having Wynne, Alistair, or Leliana. And Sten is taciturn, but not really good or evil. I guess Barkspawn (Dog) would be another choice...? And the Secret Character is available late in the game if you need a tank for the end.
Morrigan will be your mage, since Wynne can leave you at various crisis points where you'd be choosing evil options.
Zevran is your choice for a Rogue. You CAN take Leliana (especially if you harden her), since she can be persuaded/intimidated not to go against you at the crisis points.
Sten is perfectly reasonable for a warrior. As is Ohgren. I'm inclined to pick Ohgren simply becasue Sten only gets one spec. And, as you say, dog is actually not a bad choice.
You actually CAN take Alistair, since the only crisis point where he'd leave would be such as to let you replace him with the secret character, who would be able to easily take his job as tank.
I still need the level 20 Warrior trophy, so I'll be using that on my evil run. Gonna go with Morrigan as a SS (because I'm on the PS3) and Spirit Healer. Zev as an Assassin/Duelist. My Warrior will probably be the tank, and the last slot will be filled based on situation. For instance, I'll realistically want Alistair at Redcliffe. I won't go to Orzammar until late, but Dog and Sten will be filling a bunch of slots. And I'll want Leliana with me until Zev attacks. Etc.

I like to note here that if You do get awakening. It does offer the ability to buy any specialization you didn't get during the main story play through.(How I got blood mage and reaver in one play through)
Also I like to point out that awakening final boss I think was designed to make fun of the boob obsession in gaming cause I certainly was grossed out by that.... Thing... disgusting amount of boobage(not really a spoiler since you see it often in cut scenes. Oh and if your turned on by that thing I think you need to see a therapist XD)
Only the pure of heart can solve this Mensa puzzle!
I'm sure I could have noodled through it but I just decided I didn't give a damn. I think it's because, as you said, it was so out of place. I was like "WTF? I just want to kill darkspawn, damn it."

The thing that irked me about this part of the game (and any Bioware game, really) is that naked Wynne looks exactly like naked Lelianna and naked Morrigan, despite the extra few decades.
I must be a superhero or something because I've never felt compelled to waste an hour on TV Tropes. I usually don't read past the first line or two of the article to get the jist of it.

I can't remember if I figured that out on my own or if I had to look it up on a wiki... I think I got "almost" to the end of the puzzle, then I made a mistake and I was like "ARRRRGH... okay now I'm just gonna look it up" because I didn't feel like re-doing the last 30-45min of work to get back to where I was.

Total immersion-breaker.
Unless you had Zevram in the same party as Wynne, where he comments about how Wynne is still holding up better than other women half her age, and how there were people back in Antiva who would be in to grannies. Then there's the part where he is getting off on her description on what it was like to be filled with the essence of a fade spirit.
Talking seriously about boobies has never been so hilarious.

I ended up peeking at a walkthrough because I didn't get the fact that you only had to get one person across. Once I realized that, it was easy. The fact that you could only make two parts of the bridge whole at a time made everything else click into place. Never read up on the actual order of platforms for the bridge -- once you figure out which platform affects which part (and can actually remember them!), it actually wasn't that bad.

I almost died when he started asking Wynne if she used magic on her boobs.XD
