Add DCUO to the list of subscription games turned F2P: http://www.zam.com/story.html?story=27752

Honestly, the game should have been free-to-play from day 1. Without the $15/month subscription, I can see more players jumping in to check it out, especially on the PS3.

Wow. So soon? I enjoyed the beta, I may jump back in.

I hear Lego Universe went fp2 as well.

And from the gaming community, there arose a collective "meh."

I've never felt much urge to play a superhero-themed MMO, but if I did, City of Heroes would probably be the first one I tried.

I really tried to give DC's 52 a chance. I really did, but I just couldn't get into it. Batman was about as close to what interests me, and I found the new Detective Comics fairly bland. Yes, they were a bunch of first issues and quitting on the first issue is ridiculous, but still.

I say that to say that if I can't get into the comics, I can't see myself getting into the game unless a bunch of people I know personally give it rave reviews. Which is really the only way I even tried Arkham Asylum.

So ... yeah, even without a monthly subscription I can't say it intrigues me enough.

I played Champions Online for a while, the character creation was brilliant but the game pretty much stopped there as well.

While I echo the "Meh." sentiment, I'm sure my roommate will be happy to hear this.

I played the beta but couldn't get into it. The half-assed costume generation probably soured me from the get-go.

The LEGO Group is calling it a "free-to-play option," but it's actually a very limited free trial. You basically get access to the 15-minute tutorial zone and the first major zone. That's about it. Details here: http://www.zam.com/story.html?story=27665.

It's worthwhile to check out the trial to see if you enjoy LEGO Universe's gameplay, but you'll need to subscribe to do just about anything in the game.

Most f2p games limit you to the point they are not really playable unless you start buying features.
