After just having finished this game, I can only say that it was awesome. I'd recommend it if you've enjoyed either of the first two (or both).

No idea about the online yet, though. I don't have a Live account at the moment.

There we have it, recommendation of the day!

Since I have no plans to play it online, I'm going to wait for the price to drop. I can't justify full price for a game I'm going to play through once (or maybe twice).

I've only finished Act 1 in campaign, but I've got about 15-20 hours in multiplayer, and it's probably the most frustrating of the trilogy.

The Lancer is insanely overpowered, it slows you down, and hits like a truck. The Retro Lancer is difficult to use, but hit's harder than the Lancer. Hammerburst, as always, is nearly useless. Gnasher shotgun is good, but if you're against someone with a sawed off, your up a creek without a paddle, unless they waste their shot.

As for map based weapons, the one shot is hella-fun. Sniper rifle can be awkward to use if your used to not using the scope from GoW1.

Overall, much better than GoW2, but it doesn't have anything on GoW1.

I hate everyone who gets this game. Smiley: glare

I miss my 360.

Wait, Gears of War? That's still a thing?

I never played the first.

Neither did I. I bought the second one about a month ago when I noticed it for $20 bucks. Nothing really made me think "omg dis gaem es awsum!!11!!". More along the lines of "neat cover based shooting with some really strong bromance going on between the main characters". I will probably get this game when it hits $20 like GoW2.

I loved playing Horde Mode with my husband. It was super fun.

Yeah I suppose the game would be a lot more enjoyable if I had people to play the co-op with. Alas I can only play with myself. Innuendo's aside, I would rather stick my hand in a meat grinder than play on xbox live.

If you want to see why GoW is so damn good, play the first. The second one sucked something awful. First one was good enough for me to dump about 500+ hours into it.

While I agree, it's fun if you just join a party with friends, or by yourself, so you don't have to listen to the 12 year olds screaming in ecstasy as they cut someone in half with a chainsaw.

Just picked up a copy today, so we'll stick it in tonight and see how it goes (innuendo intended).

I've found that Mario Party Games + Friends + Beer also = Win.

The new Horde Mode is hella fun. The developers acknowledged the fact that most parties just pick a corner of the map and camp out, so they added a whole bunch of "base defense" mechanics that allow you to build spike strips to slow down baddies, stationary turrets, and more to defend your turf.

The single player is neat, although it's hilarious (to me) that they added two new sassy, buff, ********************************* female characters. Basically, they're exactly like the male characters, only with boobs (and presumably more estrogen).
