Huh, so... When you are frolicking around in a river, be sure it isn't about to lead to a waterfall.

Well I had exited a cave... about 10 minutes earlier.

It's not my fault! There were flowers and fish and butterflies!

At least you had fun doing it!

Found one bug and one possible bug that annoyed me last night. :( Killed my fun a little.

I found out that if a dragon still has a sliver of life, it can still kill you. I thought he was dead. Smiley: motz

Also, sniping people is a big thing for me, so I know I've mentioned it before. Now if they're just alive enough to be crawling on their hands and knees I run up to them and use my Pickaxe on them to save on arrows and Fire Sword enchants. It's very cathartic.

I'd snipe stuff with my bow, if the arrows didn't move so slow that people can just sidestep them.

Once wasted 20 arrows trying to kill another archer. Damn guy would move ever time I let one fly. One arrow, I mean...

I tried Conjuration by casting the sword spell, but apparently you have to actually hit things with it to skill up.

I don't know if you can spam it on a single enemy, but my Conjuration goes up awfully quick just from using Soul Trap. That's literally all I use it for, and it's still a level higher than my Destruction, bizarrely.

Conjuration is insanely easy to level.
1. Cast soul trap over and over and over on a dead body (yup) or a humanoid.
2. Get into a fight with a slaughterfish then go to the edge of the pool, where it can't hurt you but is still engaged, and spam summons.
3. Raise dead bodies and then mow them down with destruction magic to raise both at the same time.

I don't think using a bound weapon will skill it up. Casting the spell while in combat will, though.

Casting conjuration spells (the summoning ones) outside of combat does give some skill, apparently. But it's extremely small.

You'll enjoy it more when you get to the point where you just one shot them from sneak. So far my favorite thing I've done is to put an arrow through people sitting in chairs and watch them slump over.

I've personally enjoyed shooting people off of cliffs. If the shot didn't kill them, the fall definitely did...though it can make looting a pain sometimes. =X

I hate that.

I like to see how far I can get and snipe people. One of my targets slumped just slightly and I thought I missed, so I shot him a few more times and he never moved. Thinking he was bugged I grabbed my sword and went after him, only to find 5 arrows sticking out of the back of his head.

Aye, cliffs and low railings are the best.

I kind of do like it when an enemy can't be 1-shotted though, particularly when you get the ability to stagger enemies with your shots. It's great fun to shoot an enemy and have them start in your direction, only to constantly get knocked back by a steady stream of arrows to the chest. By the time they make it close enough to finally detect me (they pretty much have to be right on top of me now) they're already a pincushion, and its too late.

Mercer Frey never hit me a single time because of that ability.

Amusingly, there are a couple quests out there that will level your spell skills as a reward as well -- as in *all* of them. I know that Transmundane quest is one of them (and quite a varied set of options too, not just spells), and there's definitely at least one more...that I can't remember. :/ So if a number of them are pretty high...well...imagine my surprise when I suddenly gained two levels from one of those rewards.

I can't remember exactly which place it is... But in the Reach there is a Forsworn camp that leads to a dungeon in the mountain that gets you one of your shouts, at the very end of it you come out onto this ledge with a hargraven who summons two frost trolls. The only way I beat that was to run around like a mad man and FUS RO DAH them off the cliff. There is something very satisfying with the sound a frost troll makes when it's hurled off a cliff and crashes to its death.

My other favorite thing dealing with flying corpses was when I watched a mammoth straight up launch this wolf into the air. I mean we're not talking 5 feet, more like rocket propelled wolf corpse shooting through the sky.

I enjoyed sneaking into houses and planting arrows in people who were sleeping.

This game is better than therapy.

If you summon them before combat, then enter combat with them still active, you'll get exp as if you had summoned the bound swords in combat. I've been using them for some assassinations on my mage now and again.

I haven't done any "friendly" NPC killing...yet. I just started a new character tonight to test out a few things after reading about a sneaky trick (see also: exploit) that you can use to level skills in the intro scenario. It involves stabbing the **** out of your escort when you get to the part of the cave where you're supposed to sneak past the bear (I'm not putting spoiler tags on that because...well, geez...) The thing is, your escort won't die and won't attack you. Just go into sneak mode and stab him in the back. Over and over again. After about 40 minutes of jabbing this guy in the spine, my Sneak is close to level 60 and my 1h weapon is around 35 or so. I'm also level 9. The tricky part is actually getting the backstab to register...you can't just stand there and chop away...you have to stabbity, move away a bit, then close in and stabbity again. Seems to work best when you LoS him between stabs, because it's the backstabs that really rocket your sneak xp.

From what I've been able to tell, slaughterfish aren't the only mobs that you can use water to keep at a distance. If you can make your way to a swampy area (clusters of isolated islands) with animal-type mobs, they won't go through the water to get to you. (Humanoids will, however.) I was doing this with a pair of Ice Bears tonight. In a toe-to-toe fight they smash me to bits but I was able to snipe at them from an opposite shore and managed to take them both down fairly easily (albeit not quickly, because they will actually LoS you.) I tried the same thing with some bandits and they just swim after you.

I did this with some bandits in a tower a ways east of Whiterun. I really did a poor job of setting up my first character so I'm more or less forced to try to keep everything at range and stay concealed, so when I got to this tower and found out the hard way that it was full of hostiles I reloaded and sat partially concealed behind a rock sniping at them. Shocked the hell out of me when I knocked one guy off the highest tower and he fell to his death. I was tempted to reload and do it again <.<

Sneaky trick with arrows: if you purposely miss your first shot, your target will run to the impact point of your arrow to investigate and pause long enough to line up a clean shot. Very handy for those buggers that just won't...stop...moving.

To once again point out how broken Enchanting is, I now have a full set of Dragonskin armor (upgraded to Legendary) with the following stats:

Body:
Destruction Spells cost 28% less to cast.
Destruction Spells cost 17% less to cast and Magicka regenerates 10% faster.

Head:
Destruction Spells cost 28% less to cast.
Magicka regenerates 70% faster.

Hands:
One-handed attacks do 45% more damage.
Carrying capacity increased by 42 points.

Boots:
One-handed attacks do 45% more damage.
Carrying capacity increased by 42 points.

Ring:
One-handed attacks do 45% more damage.
Destruction spells cost 28% less to cast

Necklace:
One handed attacks do 45% more damage.
Carrying capacity increased by 42 points.

Daedric Sword (142 base damage):
Absorb 22 points of Health.
If target dies within 11 seconds, fills a soul gem.

I'm calling it my battlemage set of doom. I can cast Destruction spells for free, regenerate Magicka fairly quickly for healing, and hit like freaking truck with my sword. Not to mention I'm up to 491 carrying capacity now. I haven't decided what to put on the Shield yet, but damn my kit is sexy.

Hmm, I may have over did it. I just killed an Ancient Dragon with three regular swings of my sword. I think I'll be needing to turn up the difficulty a bit...

After taking eons completing the Thieves Guild quest, I'm finally back on the main quest line.

Just got a Blades Sword, and had a minor nerdrage fit over the fact that it's basically a katana that can only be one-handed. It just looks weird when it isn't held in two hands. Not cool.

I need to do some serious work on my archery skill.

I'm at an awkward point right now. I'm level 20, so blood dragons are showing up. And I can kill them fast once they are on the ground (SnB). But holy hell it takes FOREVER to get them to land. And they'll destroy me if they are the fire variety.

So my immediate concerns are getting myself some ranged damage. After that, I'm probably going to level up enchanting/alchemy (and get the last 20 points in smithing) so that I can make myself a happy set of gear. :P

What kinda sucks is that my Heavy Armor skill is in the 40s, but my Light Armor skill is in the 20s. And I intend to use scale armor. Womp.
