Good to know, If Risen wins i'll probably skip it. I'm sure all 3 will be the daily deal at some point.

I bought Divinity II: DKS from some Amazon sale for like five bucks once upon a time. It's a fairly enjoyable 3rd person adventure game. Plot is fairly linear -- there's a bunch of side quests and technically you can move ahead of the plot but the changes in mob level (no mob scaling) means you'll be staying in the areas you're supposed to stay in. I don't think things respawned either so there's little reason to go backwards except to hit a town to sell at. Dungeons are a bit of a pixel hunt to open secret doors and the like.

Eventually you get to turn into a dragon so you'll have that going for you. Combat is a bit button mash-y but you have additional powers you can activate off the numbers bar and a good variety of skills to choose from. Graphics aren't bad but some of the voice acting and facial synching will give you an amused cringe. There's an item slotting system for equipment customization.

All in all, it's not a bad game. I suppose it's worth ten bucks but I'm personally happy to have paid less. It's... serviceable? That sounds worse than intended but you'll play it, you'll probably enjoy it, you might even finish it.

Man, I should write game reviews.

I voted Risen after looking at reviews for all 3. Seemed to be the most favorable for my specific interests (primarily meaning better praise for story-telling, characters, and narrative). But I'll probably grab whichever one wins.

Totally gonna buy Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, and I don't even know what it's about. That name warrants the purchase price.

As for the flash sales and community stuff, the real flesh of the Summer Sale seems to be the flash sale system. Generally get the best deals (an extra 25-50% off what the normal sale price is). The Community Choice seems, to me, to mostly about giving a first or second chance at some of the flash sales with prior notice.

I actually like it, I think. Granted, I can't remember how they did it last year.

That game catalog might be the worst collection of games I've ever seen. The fact that Risen is among them kinda tells me how that game is.

All the more reason to play it for free!

But, yeah, the selection there looks as though someone looted an Office Depot computer games bin.

Risen is not that bad. I rather enjoyed it. You get a huge nicely designed island to play around on with hidden nooks and coves to explore. You can play through two different stories depending on faction choice. All in all except for the unforgiving action combat (Think Witcher high learning curve) it was a fun game.

I also already have Two worlds 2 and the entire Divinity series. I'm a sucker for RPG games. Neither are spectacular either but I played them all the way through and enjoyed them.

I'm sad to hear that Risen 2 sucks actually. If it gets cheap enough I might have to see for myself but not for a mere 33% off. (spoiled by 75%)

GOTY Edition of Oblivion is a flash sale right now, $4.99. Deluxe is $6.24, which really just has a few more dungeons and new housing options.

GOTY Morrowind as well.

I picked up both of them... even though I played them years ago I didn't have a PC copy. I enjoyed them and it makes me feel better having them available on my PC legally.

I know I've stated this before in various threads, but Morrowind is still by far my favorite Elder Scrolls game, even more so than Skyrim. If there is anybody out there who still hasn't played it, go now and don't look back.

I have no interest in playing Arma II, mod or otherwise, but I also feel the urge to buy it just because everyone's been whining about it for so long.

Still not going to, though.

I've gotten enough games out of this sale to keep me busy for a very long time, so I'm trying to hold off on buying anything else. Quantum Conundrum is on sale right now at $8.99, but I know I won't get to play it for months, so I think I'll wait for the Christmas sale.

Ya, I bought a few games, and I want Civ V, but figure I won't play it enough to justify a purchase right now. I figure it will be on sale later in the year, and probably with Gods and Kings on sale (more than 10-25% off).

I don't feel like making a new thread asking but what happened to that thread advertising that World of Steam game? Did the guy go into spam mode or something? I saw Twiz had a post that I never read and then the thread was gone after that.

The gentleman who originally started the thread linked to a no-no website that was giving away free alpha keys.

The main site for the game is here: http://www.cityofsteam.com/

Odd that it got deleted now. If I remember right his second post had URL REMOVED tags in it.

I assumed it was probably one of those free spam sites that they just happened to use for a legitimate purpose for once.

Ah, I don't really care about the game. I was just wondering how he went from "Mods said this is an approved post" to thread-smash in one post.

Steam has been refusing to accept payment from me--anyone else having this problem? Tried different sources, so I know it's not the card.

How many games did you purchase during the sale, and were they back to back purchases? I remember when I did my first Steam sale my credit card company though that my card/account had been hijacked and had blocked any further purchases from Steam.

I bought something last night and it worked. Haven't tried anything today so I couldn't tell you.

Maybe Jesus is telling you to back off the games for a bit.

That's quite possible. I made quite a few purchases. :/ Kinda necessary with the flash sale system.

Though now Steam is just telling me:

Quote:
There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance.

When I first go to check out, so I hope it's them. I hate calling customer service. XD
