Recruitment Video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=R5ZU5waJg-w

Hello all, I would like to thank you for your interest in checking us out. We're currently using the The Wilds as our home world for the betas, this could possibly change as we go into launch.

Tempest Gaming is an active gaming community for people over 20 years of age, that prides itself on its organized structure. We're a casual gaming community who will never give you a problem about placing your partner, kids, or other real life responsibilities above your game time, while maintaining a home for the more competitive gamers too. Thus our membership ranges from college students, career professionals, and even a few retirees.

Tempest was established March 15, 2011 within the MMO Rift. A small group of players banded together to build the top guild on the Threesprings Shard. Within a few months the guild ranks had grown to over 300 members with over 175 registered accounts. The guild flourished as a casual and fun guild with something for every play style. In October of the same year, Tempest began branching into other MMOs, while waiting for the release of SWTOR. In December, about 40 members jumped into SWTOR and played strong until February 2012. Most members became dissatisfied with the game and began branching into other games such as Aion, DDO, Vanguard, WoW, and a few other MMOs, leaving SWTOR as a casual/PvP game for most.

Tempest Gaming consists of dedicated players who enjoy working together as a team to accomplish common goals in all aspects of gaming. The following games have Tempest Branches:

TERA - Frost Reach Server

Guild Wars 2 - The Wilds (beta)

The Secret World - Hulda

*Note - We have members that play other various MMOs and FPS, so we can support group activity in many games.

Tempest Gaming is looking for players that are interested in both PvP and PvE aspects of Guild Wars 2. World vs. World will have a strong focus within the community and participation is strongly suggested. That being said, participation in Dynamic Events and other PvE aspects will also be encouraged. We welcome both casual and competitive play styles and have a playerbase to support them. We are also looking for dedicated players that enjoy being a part of an active community, be it in-game or on our forums. Last but not least, you can leave drama at the door but a sense of humor is a must! We're all adults here looking for a good time with friends.

Tempest Gaming offers you:

- An established multi-game community

- A mature and drama free atmosphere where you can enjoy your game time with friends

- Skilled members and an experienced leadership team that will make you feel comfortable and welcome

- A user friendly website, active forums, ventrillo, and a podcast to keep you up to date with gaming news and guild activities

Please visit us at http://tempestguild.us/ to apply. Our podcast is also on Itunes, search Tempest Game Cast in the Itunes Store. We look forward to meeting you!

I don't understand the fascination with guilds that stretch themselves across multiple games. If it's an organic process of members moving to a new game, then great. But why would you make it a matter of principle to establish a presence on a beta server? All this does is create a multi-game "guild" that's primarily consisting of people who don't know each other at all. What's the point? It's not like you go from your core game's community to a new one and find out that they're the same, or even similar.

And doing open recruitment is just going to ensure that they won't be a unified community at all.

It is not really stretching unless you leave members behind. In Tempest we support players who want to stick with their game of preference and provide support though a website, pod casts, and other mediums to help keep the sense of community and camaraderie. In each game we expand into we look to build an extension of our greater community into that game, by recruiting from that community. Players may only play one specific game but through ventrilo they will meet other gamers who they may not have met otherwise. We are active in vent and other social media, and it allows our members to not feel locked into any one game. We know we have about a third of our greater community who are looking to jump into GW2 while the other 2/3 are happy in the games they play now. We still socialize, chat, post, and keep in touch with the people we have become friends with. GW2 specifically lends itself to this model by allowing our players who may casually play GW2 an opportunity to attend or participate in guild events in game due to the lack of a subscription fee, pay once and play as much or as little as you want. For us it has become the Multi-player social aspect of MMOs that we enjoy. It is not unusual for us to have players in three or more MMOs chatting in a single channel, and if players are working instances or PVP and need to separate, they do, and return later when they are done.

Well, obviously to each their own. In any case, this is neither the forum for this post, nor is it appropriate to use this game community to advertise your own. Use the dedicated guild recruitment forums. This forum is for discussion, not shameless plugging.

[EDIT]

I also like how you've already had to create a new account. Which is against the TOS, btw.

I am sorry if I posted in the wrong forum, I did not see a guild recruitment sub forum. Also the reply to your previous comment was not me making a new account. I am sorry you seemed to have taken this entire post as a personal offense.

The Lamoose67 account is not his, it is mine, Scrivean in all the Tempest Games, check our website if you really care or need clarification, which I don't think you really want. Diemos is our GL for GW2 and is leading the expansion. And hey if you really don't believe us feel free to listen to out podcast, available on iTunes, in which you can hear both Diemos and myself (Scrivean) as two of the hosts, Tempest Game Cast.

They are subforums to the game forums. There's are guild recruitment forums for TOR, Rift, and FFXIV right now.

If more are deemed necessary (as TERA/GW2/Secret World forums open up, if the population is significant to warrant them) they will become available as well.

Either way, while the forum rules don't outright prohibit guild recruitment posts, they make it abundantly clear that it is not an appropriate place for them. In general, if you are going to be posting in a new community, you should review their rules first. And advertising (which this should be considered, as you are posting about a web community and pod casts, not an in-game guild) should seek administrator approval first.

I was content to ignore it more or less like I do most recruitment threads, but after a quick scan I had to chime in that this does sound kinda iffy to me as well.

Really the only reason I'm responding as well. They're annoying, but I'll ignore them when they are for games we don't have general forums for. But this is beyond a typical guild advert.

No-one even slightly funny has ever been a part of a guild with this 'stipulation'.

I've been a part of multi-game guilds before, there is a certain level of compartmentalization that naturally occurs in different gaming spheres, but it's nice if you want a large network of contacts.

Man what a blast we had in BWE2! We had to move to a newer server due to our old one being full. It was a good switch because it seems a lot more people were interested in WvW on The Wilds. We played through WvW every evening and were very successful at claiming territory.
