Space Quest creators are making a new game (was forum=28)Follow

The Two Guys from Andromeda, creators of the Space Quest adventure game series (from Sierra in the '80s and '90s), have opened up their Kickstarter campaign for their new space adventure game. And they've got some nice voice talent lined up as well, including:

• Gary Owens - Narrator from SQ4 and SQ6, voice of Space Ghost, Laugh-in, and many many others in a long and distinguished career.
• Rob Paulsen - Pinky from Pinky and the Brain, Yakko from Animaniacs, Raphael the Ninja Turtle, and multiple characters from Monkey Island among many other characters he has voiced.
• Robert Clotworthy – Jim Raynor from StarCraft 1 & 2, Senator Evran & Supreme Chancellor from Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Narrator of The History Channel’s Ancient Aliens series, Big Bang Theory, etc.
• Ellen McLain - GLaDOS from Portal 1 & 2, Overwatch from Half-Life 2, Administrator from Team Fortress 2, Witch from Left for Dead 2 and many more.
• John Patrick Lowrie - Sniper from Team Fortress 2, Sword Control from Halo Reach, Citizens from Half-Life 2 and author of Dancing with Eternity.

I wouldn't click on the links from a post like this, so I wouldn't know.

On one hand, there is this. I mean, I barely trust links from Joph, so I'm not exactly tripping over myself to check out a link from a one post wonder. On the other it's Space Quest, which was awesome. Definitely made me Google for similar information.

Space Quest was one of my favorite game franchises of all time. Those old Sierra games have a special place in my heart.

Maybe. The post is written well enough and contains relevant information presented in an easily readable format. It wasn't spammed all over the forums, it was simply posted in the wrong one.

Anyway, the Kickstarter is legitimate and if you're a fan of the series you might consider donating.

I tend to agree with BrownDuck on this one. This is the kind of thing that I think should have been brought to an admin before posting, for common courtesy if for nothing else.

If it's written like any of the regulars would have written it, and contains legitimate information, I don't see a problem.

If I had made that same exact post over in General Game Discussion (or whatever the **** that forum is actually called), nobody would have cared. I mean, unless this site is no longer a video game community. What if it was someone who just lurked for a long time and had never made a post until the exciting prospect of a new SQ game came about?

I'm not saying to not be skeptical of low postcount posters making a thread with lots of links. I'm saying that in this specific case, I don't see a problem with what was posted.

I played the heck out of The Incredible Machine.

That and The Learning Company's SuperSolvers games (Operation Neptune and Ancient Empires in particular) were my favorite games for a long time when I was a kid.

I played the heck out of Hunt the Wumpus and Apple Cider Spider, but I don't know that I'd want to fund a sequel.

A few years back there were some fans of the series that created their own Space Quest game (Jessica Alba all nudey nudey). I don't recall playing all the way through but was impressed by how much it felt like an old Sierra game.

LOL! Agreed. Well, I loved pretty much all the classic Sierra games - Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest, Police Quest, King's Quest, Gabriel Knight, ... Well, I could go on and on really! LOL



Indeed it's legit! I am VERY excited about it! I already donated 100 bucks for this one! (There was a Leisure Suit Larry one that succeeded that I donated to - and Jane Jensen who did Gabriel Knight has one going on for her new company and games!)



Let me know when you get that going... LOL



Also, I think if you mouse-hover over the links, your browser will show (usually on the very bottom of the page) the actual URL it's going to... (so I never trust those ones that are abbreviated... because then you can't tell what the actual URL is pointing to...)



Agreed about Sierra being a favorite (back in the day). I think they're going with "SpaceVenture" right now because there may be legal issues (copyrights and what not) with actually using Space Quest...



LOL! Should play it! It's good! (I mean the game, not Jessica Alba... though you can play her too... Well, till she calls the police!) :-D
