I think that answer is obvious. Smiley: lol

So I resubbed to FFXIV this weekend, post patch 2.1, and I have to say the game is MUCH better now.

I quit in 2.0 because fate grinding just wasn't fun. It was just incredibly boring. Even though it gave the best exp/hour, by far, it was SO MUCH MORE BORING than anything else. So in the end, you were choosing between more-entertaining content, that was stupidly slow to level in, or really boring content that was fast but made you want to rip your eyes out.

In 2.1, they've buffed dungeon exp by quite a lot. Unless you loathe PUGs, you probably want to be in a dungeon or a queue at all times while leveling, if you have the time. They also buffed leves (at like 47 I was getting 9k exp, then up to 12-13k with the bonus exp).

Fate Grind groups are still a thing, and it's not mandatory anymore, and that's nice. It might technically still be the best option for exp, at least at certain levels, but I honestly think most people doing them do it because they don't like PUGs. Of course, if you're leveling a DPS class, you have longer queues, and might not have leve allowances. So that's a factor.

Also worth noting, they shuffled some of the cross-class abilities. My Cnj, for instance, can no longer use Thunder, but I get Blizzard 2 (an AOE), which is SUPER nice for fate grinding.

I haven't done much of the endgame content beyond the main scenario quests. But so far I'm happy with the changes I see. They added daily quests in the 40s, and I'm hoping they'll add dailies down through the low levels, for the sake of leveling. Don't know how long I'll stick around, but I'm far more willing to level more classes up now.

I also resubbed recently, and am so far pretty pleased with the changes. Have only been doing end game stuff and even then my free time has been slim the past few weeks but what I have done has been enjoyable.

Right now I'm butting heads with the relic weapon quest. Need to get a group together for the items.

I'm not actually all that interested in endgame just yet, though. Rather get more classes to 50, so I know what I like when I do join endgame.

I'll probably take Gladiator up, next. I'm a tank at heart...

But I'm also torn because I really need to grab some more cross-class skills. Eye for an Eye is the big one for my Whm, but Swiftcast is important, too.

Swiftcast is the most important ability for a caster, period. Also THM is fun as hell to level so it shouldn't be difficult to get Smiley: tongue

I'll be doing Garuda HM tonight to get one step closer to my relic weapon, then running Crystal Tower until I get my drop for the week.

Regardless of what you're working on leveling, I highly recommend doing Duty Roulette once a day, and get attuned for CT if you haven't already and start doing that for your weekly iLevel 80 drop.

Ugh, the relic quest involves the Garuda HM? I hated healing that fight on normal. So much damage...

And my average ilvl is still sub-50. I should probably update my remaining slots to level 50 gear, in the meantime. I wish you could use the incomplete relic in the meantime, because the Madman's Staff was probably better than my current one. Though my current one isn't awful, at least. Still like 4-5 levels out of date.

I also need to take an aggressive look at my keybinds, since I'm on the PS3. Up to now, I had one set for healing, and another set for soloing, but I don't think that'll fly any more. Can you make conditional macros? Like if I'm targetting a player, it casts Cure, but if I'm targetting a mob it casts Stone II? Because that would be super helpful...

If only they'd add mouse/keyboard support to the PS3.

You should be able to do that with macros. Just put both commands in. You cannot cast stone on a player so it should error and move on to the next line which is cure.

I don't know much about macros but what Tirith said sounds reasonable. As for the relic, yes. There are a lot of boss fights involved, including all 3 HM Primals.

As for your gear, running dungeons will help a lot with that, both for drops and for Tome gains. I wouldn't take on any of the HM primals until you're over 50 iLevel, and probably increase that by 10 for each Primal from what I've been hearing.

Blah, okay, relic weapon is officially on the back-burner.

I really SHOULD get swiftcast. If for no other reason than emergency swifted Medica II casts... If I'm casting M2, it's probably accompanied by a pretty severe spike in blood pressure.
