You're right about the women. I was thinking about the idea that any fantasy game world pretty much demands that women be soldiers as well. I understand why and I'm not complaining but it'd be interesting to see the response to a high fantasy game where they still left it to men to carry the pikes. I never played the Witcher series, so they have women soldiers, etc in that game? Didn't know if it being created in Poland would have changed the default expectation.

Largely not. There are two I can think of in the second game, one soldier and one general who's a kind of Joan of Arc figure.

Oh, and a bunch of sorceresses.

I chuckle at all the romance options in the game. For a bunch of medieval/Renaissance era people blatantly based on real European cultures and overshadowed by a Catholic Church knock-off complete with pseudo-Pope, they sure are keen on bisexuality, homosexuality, transgenders, etc. I'm not complaining and, heck, more options for the gamers is always good but it does stick out like a politically correct sore thumb Smiley: laugh

Maybe it's the effect of a Greater Evil. When you're getting attacked by dragons and Darkspawn and desert chickens, you don't have time to worry about who is humping who. Or like how in fantasy worlds you always see human/elf racism or elf/dwarf racism but you almost never see one human care about another human's skin color. "We're too busy calling these dudes 'knife-ears' to care if Viv is black..."

If you do a side quest for dorian I am not 100% sure is available unless you are trying to romance him there's a conflict with his father.(Minor character spoilers) Which is where you find out that the biggest problem his family had with him was that he is strictly ***. My character acted surprised like who even cares these days. In dragon age 2 if you romance Anders as a guy you have a whole conversation about how he was dating the guy that was made tranquil. And how the circle in feredelin love passing time by having massive oregies.

In my experience there's always been hints to the LGTB community in the series it's just really obvious in this one

Edit: ON vivi, she basicly the Anders and as mentioned Morrigan of the group.(How much she would punch me if she heard me compare her to those two) SOmeone who has a very specific goal and gets in anyone face if you remotely threaten that goal. She seems a decent person and has her kind moments but she way to much into the big picture to care about anyone but the Herald.

I found a research paper on sexuality in Thedas last night. It was on a desk in some large house/mini dungeon in the Emerald Graves. It detailed the social impact of various sexual preferences in the various kingdoms. Basically, once the nobles have had children, they're free to **** however they like. For the commons, nobody really cares who you **** as long as you don't go around doing it in public.

I just had Schmooples come up again in game. That's far more important than Thedasian sexuality and fender studies.

Just killed the Crestwood electric type dragon. Woot! I'm only level 12 and it was 13 so it took me a while. Mostly my guy soloed him after the party got wing furried and electrocuted to death repeatedly. Every time I rezzed them the dragon was like "Oh no you din" and shot them dead again nearly instantly. At one point I think I heard Varrick say "Please stop rezzing me".

Having armor and guard life bars from 3 of my abilities and especially shield wall which can give me a full bar in a couple hits from a dragon may be slightly OP. I think the dragon must have just got tired of hitting me after a while and decided to say fug it. I thought for a minute about assuming direct control of the party to keep them from standing in stupid stuff but decided to be lazy instead and just hit the dragon until it stopped doing mean stuff.

I just killed him today, too. Sera died and I couldn't find her on my minimap until the end when the dragon moved again but the rest of us made it with no casualties.

My favorite dragon moment was when I did the Hinterlands one. It flew off and landed on one of the perches to breathe fire at us and The Iron Bull immediately tried to chain harpoon it. Gotta admire your optimism there, big guy Smiley: laugh

Speaking of dragons. I was out in the Emerald Graves, clearing up the last few quests, and ran into the ice type dragon out there. Even though both myself and Dorian both had ice staves, not to mention Dorian being specced with Necromancer and Ice, I fought it anyway. It took forever to kill, but I eventually won. I love the way my Enchanter's blade rips through armor like it's not even there.

Yes. I downloaded multiple difficulty enhancing mods in order to make it somewhat challenging.

I'm running a bit behind the curve here, I think. Level 5 or 6 and still in the Hinterlands but I think I'll be moving on tonight. Standard gamer nature makes you want to hang out in an area to clear it but there's way too much to do and parts of it are far above me anyway. Came across a rift last night spewing out level 12 demons and after a couple attempts to beat my head against that particular wall I started having a change of heart in my approach.

I discovered crafting early on and my warrior is sporting some snazzy Drakeore armor with a Fennic overcoat. Weapon schematics are harder for me to find although I got one for an axe last night that was 20% better than my current weapon. Made new armor for Cassandra, Varric and Solas as well. I'm not ashamed to say that I wasted considerable time hunting nugs just so Cassandra could have the white surcoat since I thought she'd look best in it. I found a rare suit of armor for Varric later on but it's only very nominally better (like the bonus stat a little more)

Crafting is interesting to me just because you have some game aspects narrowed down from DA:O like auto-gained attributes or fewer spell schools but then I'm sitting there saying "Do I want the Canine leather trim for +2.5% Flanking damage or the Ram leather trim for +1% Crit chance?"

An odd thought just struck me while attending an Orlesian ball. Solas... Soul Less. I think perhaps he may have split his soul into horcruxis and hid them throughout the fade.

If he tells me his name used to be Tom Riddle I am out of here.

OMFG get me out of this terrible Wicked Hearts quests already. My guy evesdropped on some nobles and then said "Boring". I AGREE, it's meta but not in a good way. I'm ready to start the French revolution right here. Off with their heads! Bunch of pompous asses. I want to shove their game into a dragons butt and let it **** fire on them.

Uhhhg, I think I have it solved now but that was a really long pinging fetch quest. I hope I get to shield bash something again soon. Smiley: banghead

*Ok it got so much better after the fighting started. My guy kind of redeemed everything when he said "Come on out *Spoiler your parties finally picking up!"

I decided to start being a right ruddy bastich towards the end and have like 3 court approval atm. My guy is a soldier and pragmatist. You don't have to like it you twunts but you will obey!

I was out exploring the far side of Emprise du Lion (the area you unlock after repairing the bridge) and found two dragons. I didn't know anything about either one, so I saved and just went for it. The first one was actually asleep when I found it, so I got a couple free hits on it. That one was almost too easy. Blackwall's Champion ability "To the Death" couples so well with the Enchanter Blade, I was doing between 3000 and 5000 damage a swing. The fight was over almost before it started.

The second one was a bit harder. This one was another ice dragon, which I was again not set up for. But, all it takes is time. Single enemies have no chance against a Champion and Knight Enchanter combo.

Between the two of them, I've upgraded my armor on three of the four of my main party members and seriously increased Blackwall's DPS with a new sword.

...and I just found a third dragon over there. Also an Ice dragon, but same result. I've got enough dragon parts now to go do some major crafting.

I'm saving up my Dragon parts until I get some Tier 3 patterns. I'm not even sure where to look; I thought they would be unlocked with the Forces perks, but apparently not.
