Has anyone been paying attention to this? I feel like it's mostly been flying under the radar aside from a Nintendo Direct segment on it a few weeks back. This is an upcoming 3DS JRPG by Squeenix that is a "spiritual successor to FF: The 4 Heroes of Light". It's actually out in Europe already I think, but it doesn't release here until February. However, there is a demo available on the 3DS eshop which is a separate story from the main game. It teaches you the basics of the game (including the use of Streetpass to get villagers to help build a town, which has in-game benefits) and has 7 of the 24 jobs in the main game available for you to play. I've been playing the demo this weekend and really enjoying it. It's a fun job system similar to some previous FF titles. The cool thing is that you can equip abilities from other jobs that the character has leveled up in addition to their current class abilities, so it allows for a lot of variation. The main combat point is the ability to "Default" or "Brave". These deal with a combat resource, BP, that is used to take actions. Defaulting grants you extra BP (and puts you into a defensive stance for the turn), which can then be used for certain abilities or to "Brave", which lets you take a 2nd action in a turn.
I've been having fun with it, though none of my friends have tried it so the streetpassing feature has been slow going for me (streetpasses give you more villagers which speeds up the building of the town buildings). I'll most likely get it when it comes out, a JRPG on the 3DS is an enticing prospect for me as well.
Anyone else gotten to play the demo (or the full game for you European / Australian folks) / looking forward to the release? I also forgot to mention there's another feature in the game for friends - the ability to send and receive each others' characters as summons in battle. I haven't gotten to test this yet, but it seems like it could be cool. In battle there is an option to send or receive a character. I believe this allows you to summon a friend's character into battle to fight alongside your own. Could be kinda cool.
