1) PVP in certain areas of the open worlds? Not ALL areas but certain areas that serve no objective based purpose other than the fact that it might be a bad area to go AFK in because you might come back and have been PKd. By no objective I mean unlike in ESO that city thats all PVP with the goal of taking over the castle/city. the game im lookin for would have pvp in the open world with no objective kinda like the WIlds in Runescape.
2) pv areas that have different numbers of severity. i.e in one area if you die you simply just go back to your homepoint, in another pvp area if you die you might lose some exp and or the killer gain exp (so more incentive for someone to stalk that area killing people) and in other much worse areas if you die you drop some (or ALL) of your stuff thus leaving you open for corpse looting
3) quests.missions or rare items that require you going into or through PK areas so that although theyre optional youll have incentive to try to brave that dangerous area to talk to an NPC for a boatload of EXP to complete a quest, or risk losing your life (and possibly equipment depending on what kinda pk area it is) in hopes of picking up that super rare item or monster drop that is worth tons of gold, in otherwords make the PK areas optional so that casuals can avoid them but at the same note offer a nice risk vs reward so that someone may be willing to consider it
I know text based MUDs that offer those things but what about graphical MMOs? I know in said MUDs the allure of getting all that exp or gold (cause grinding was a ***** in those games so you wanted all the exp you could get) made me travel through dangerous PK areas i would have never went through otherwise and it was fun, luckily i never got attacked but i was literally on edge the whole time. I want that feel in a graphical MMO.
Also what about enemies that stalk players at max level and come out of nowhere and attack them ANYWHERE (including in towns that are usually safe and mob free... of course lower level players in said town would still be safe as the mob wouldnt attack them... unless they were stupid enough to attack IT)
another MUD i played did just that.. when you hit max level you ascended to what was called Archon (which replaced what was originally your numerical level) which consisted of you getting every type of class to max level so you had to level one of the DPSs classes to max then one of the healing classes then one of the DPS classes and one of the support/buffing/debuffing classes to unlock Archon.. which mixed all those classes ad basically make you a one man Party. Once you did that enemies called Archon Hunters could find you anywhere (even areas that were previously safe zones) and literally teleport out of nowhere without any prior warning and commence to attacking you.. which you could either run (which most ppl did) or fight. So being high level was a constant fight for your life and dint let you sit around in AFK in a hub town all day lol.
