stress/open beta priest considering druid in retail...Follow

I played a troll priest to level 22 with two friends, a shaman and a warrior. We did quite well, clearing both ragefire and WC in the open beta.

Recently i've been having thoughts about the druid class. I like their versatility and I think they would be alot more fun than Priest in both pvp and pve. I have only played one up to level 10 and havent really had a chance to gauge their ability to play the primary healer role in groups.

I'm looking for some input from more experienced druids regarding the viability of this class as a primary healer.

I figured I'd go with the full restoration line and put the rest into Balance. If you have done this combination, some opinions on these trees would be helpful.

Thanks

druid's nice as a healer providing the classes you're healing can stand up to whatever you're fighting for long enough for you to get the heal off, or if you feel you have enough mana to pre-cast their heal over time spells before each battle. Yes, they're more versatile than the priest, and prowling/scouting is quite fun. With a shaman and a warrior, you'll probably do very well, the shaman being a secondary healer and you being a secondary tank/dps.

The priest, however, would do better damage if shadow specced by far, and will always outheal the druid in close confrontations due to power word: shield.

Oh, and Tranquility is absolutely pointless. Drain all your mana to do less heal than priest's group heal over time, be interruptible (channelling), and have a 6-minute recast.

So it's up to you. If you found priest blazé, druid may just be th way to go. If you want to be the most powerful thing you can, and not have quite as much aggravation with your role, play priest. Both classes tend to be demanded to play the same role in the endgame anyway. (healbot)
