Pal has been pretty fun so far, but the one thing that has proved to be the most annoying is the lack of any ranged attack to pull mobs with.
Does anyone know if it is possible to train in archery, or thrown weapons and if so where can that be done?

Take up engineering. You can make explosives that you can lob.
Only the exceptions can be exceptional.

I considered that, but I find blacksmithing to be more enjoyable. I like being able to make gear that I can wear and use... plus its pretty profitable.
That still leaves the original question of the availability of training for archery or thrown weapons.

If you'd like to have a ranged attack option and don't wish to take up engineering, you can always get EZ-thro Dynamite.
Not only is it effective, but hell, you're throwing dynamite around! =)

lol... I decided to read the intruction book to see if it said anything in there about weapon skills... and whaddaya know, it doesn't list any ranged weapons for a pal, so I guess that answers my question. Yes you can train those weapon skills... but not as a pal. :(

If you want a ranged attack you can either...
#1: Take up engineering and make bombs and dynamite to lob at enemies.
-or-
#2: Put at least 31 points in to your Holy talents and learn Holy Shock.
As of this posting those are your options. That's the drawback of being a strong melee character that can deal damage, tank and heal effectively.
