Tips for tankingFollow

#1 Mar 24 2007 at 11:44 AM Rating: Decent
Hi. I'm new to a warrior, but not to WoW. I have searched on the FAQ (sticky) and the guide to tanking section is not complete. I was just wondering if there were any tips for tanking. On my other characters, I often saw a warrior loosing agro in an instance and I just wanted to know how this is avoidable. I will be playing mostly with a shaman, rogue, mage and priest. How do I make sure that the dps don’t steal too much threat of me; is there something that I should be doing or they should be doing? Secondly, how I can assure that the priest doesn’t pull agro of a mob (when fighting 3+ mobs at a time) because of his healing. I'm sorry if these are nooby questions i just want to be a good tank. Thanks very much.

Check some other Defense or Prot Spec threads as they might help you. If your group knows how to play their class respecively, then there shouldn't be a problem. Just let the group know not to start in the DPS until you have sundered, thunder clapped, Demo Shout and so on.

The Mage has really good Burst DPS and will/can pull aggro easily, so tell him not to try to crit or blast everything in sight to reach new high's. The priest usually doesn't grab aggro too much even when crit healing or AoE healing for that matter, that I have seen. I happens, just not often.

All I can say without repeating what everyone else says, is to read the threads on tanking, and not just the FAQ Sticky. All in all, your buddies need to know how to play their class and need to let you tank. You're only as good as your group/healer lets you. IMO

Demo Shout, also known as Demoralizing Shout, can be learned from any warrior trainer at level 14, and costs 15 silver.

in theory you could go all the way to lvl 70 without buying any skills. any skill you haven't buyed you can buy at any time later on...
