NE over Dwarf HunterFollow

#1 Mar 28 2007 at 7:13 PM Rating: Decent
Well, with the recent explosion of Night Elf hunters, I asked around why most of them chose Night Elf over Dwarf. About eight tenths said "because I don't play gun classes"
Why would it matter so much? And if that's not your reason, why did you chose Night Elf over Dwarf? And if you're a Night Elf, do you have a Raptor pet?

It's not a recent explosion.

I see more ppl as dwarfs actually. BTW if you wondering about night elves, i like their racial ability becuase in case your in trouble and a raid of horde/alliance comes after you just run fast enough and the sec you stay outta combat long enough and it says your leaving combat, get behind a tree and put shadowmeld on and put your pet on prowl.

I personally think night elves are sort more i don't know whats the word for it, "majestic"
compared with a smelly dwarf 8O

I personally have both a NE Hunter and a Dwarf Hunter.
I like both just the same, however I tend to play my NE more, I just like their starting zone over the Dwarves. Since I really can't stand the Human/Dwarf areas of the game.
For me it's not really a choice of the racial traits since shadowmeld is nice, but isn't really that impressive. It's more about the quests and for me, the NE have the better quests.

Dwarves just look bad. But, if i ever roll another hunter on Alliance, it'll be a dwarf.

Let’s see…

Female dwarf hunter – 65
Male dwarf hunter – 61
Male night elf hunter – 60

I guess that means I prefer dwarves to night elves two to one. *grins*

The main reason I started out with dwarf hunters is because I don’t like Blizzard’s version of elves. Night elves just look wrong to me. I don’t care for the blue skin. I loath their twelve foot long floppy ears. Male night elves look like their parents strapped corsets on them at birth and didn’t remove them until adulthood. And female night elves look like an anorexic’s wet dream.

I’m a big fan of elves in many different fictional environments, but World of Warcraft is not one of them I’m sorry to say. I’ve also enjoyed the many dwarven cultures I’ve had the pleasure to read of over the years. Thankfully Blizzard did not deviate far from the standard when they added dwarves to their world. So of the two I much prefer dwarves.

Lol, thats and you got to admit, with a Male dwarf, seeing those bulking muscles makes you think just "Oh what power" lol even though they don't realy have more :P

Trashing Dwarves around here is a *bad idea,* m'kay? I like Dwarves (and have several)! Care to join me for a pint?!

A little history:

back in the day Dwarves did somewhat "lose out" to NE's on the old "stat pwnage" meter. Why?

Stoneform snared you, slowed movement.

And Shadowmelded, you could start an AS and *stay invisible!*

But then Blizz sent Mr. Equalizer along... and Stoneform was massively improved (mostly it no longer snares - also I think the cooldown was shortened, something like that). And now when a S-melded NE starts an AS, he becomes visible!

Smelding and ambushing is still good, but not nearly as good as it was.

Oh, if a NE has a non-prowling pet, the NE has options to keep pet from giving him away - NE can always dismiss pet, hide it in a bush, hide it around the corner - and shadow meld. If pet is dismissed, whistling is easy to do to bring pet.

Speaking of pets giving you away, the other night in WSG I saw a NE rogue pop out a mech squirrel, then stealth and head off down tunnel! Hah. I wanted to say something, but I got attacked and forgot ... wonder when that rogue's going to figure out "something's up." Hahah!

*tinks his mug of fine Dwarven Stout against Ipon's*

Yeah I have seen a few things like that, in instances on my rogue I used to keep a mechanical yeti out to let people know were I was without having to look too hard, in BG's ***** THAT, that yeti was packed away in my bag!!!

I have seen alot of Rogues do some dumb things and Im wondering if it is just cause they are ignorant or what

It’s not a bad idea to keep a large non-combat pet out as a rogue when questing/grinding. It’s easy for someone to “steal” your mobs because they don’t see you sneaking up on it. The pet can sometimes help.

When the game was new my human rogue managed to loot a red dragon whelp. I had grate fun going into newbie areas and stealthing along with my whelp out. All the new players would see was a little red dragon flying around. Those were good times.

I looked over all the character models when choosing a toon. Classes, etc. decided on hunter and the choice was very obvious. Dwarf FTW! I'm sorry, NE's just look goofy, maybe if they didn't have rabbit ears it would've been tougher to choose. The only thing I like about 'em is the mount and I can get one of those anyway.

BTW, I think someone already said it, but it's not a "recent explosion" by any stretch.

YAY DWARFS, the only thing I would change is the Male/Female, I would rather have had a female, Males are too Widely built

Don't know why anybody would take a NE over a Dwarf...I mean, Dwarfs love food and beer, live around a giant forge, and are Scottish. And the NEs are a buncha tree hugging hippies.

For the record, Dwarfs are in a tie with the Draeni (who I think should have been apart of the Horde anyway) for my favorite Alliance race. Heck, I like 'em better the BEs.

Dwarves are way cooler than Nelfs! In my oppinion Nelfs look gay, just the way it is. On my server there are many more Nelf hunters than Dwarf and I'm happy about it! I like being part of the minority, always have, always will.

Also we can flirt so much better

I chose Dwarf for a number of reasons:

1.) Stoneform vs. Shadowmeld, Wisp Form and +1% dodge.

- I click the Stoneform button and poof goes the Crippling Poison and Deep Wounds. Not to mention any diseases I might have contracted while questing (gotta hate those 30-minute diseases). I sort of regret not getting Shadowmeld instead. Only because it's the best anti-gank ability there is and I happen to play on a PvP server. Oh well, I'm almost level 64 so people rarely try to gank me anymore.

2.) Emotes.

- The Dwarf emotes (/silly, /flirt, etc.) just owns the Night Elf versions hands down. This. Is. My. BOOMSTICK!

3.) Epic mounts.

- I just prefer the look of the epic rams over the epic nightsabers.

4.) Animations.

- I played a male Night Elf Rogue from level 1 to 60 and got tired of the swing animations and shoot animation. The male Dwarf has a more direct shooting animation compared to the Night Elf. And I refuse to play a female Night Elf simply because of the amount of perverted whispers I get on my Priest.

i'm getting bashed here =(
i play a female Nelf hunter =P and i'm proud of it.
why? because Nelfs are more the ranger types then dwarves.
dwarves like big booms and beer.
and i couldnt play a male NE, because they look so... ugly...
when i started my hunter, there were no draenei yet, but i wouldnt play 1. dont like the goats, and male ones are even uglier then... well.. murlocs...
and for the racials? Nelfs are the worst hunters probably. but shadowmeld is great for luring stupid horde rogues in a trap i PvP.
set pet next to flag, setup immolation trap>walk away> shadowmeld+prowl and wait for the rogue to jump in.
1 intimidate later and he's toast.

This post is very hurtful .:sniff:. Anyone consider MY feelings here? I mean, I play a male NE hunter, and I must say, they look pretty awesome with long hair. The ones with pontails or whatever look wierd though =P. Still you can always cover up your face with a helm. Also, to me, like Aethien said, Night Elves are more ranger type characters, and after hearing about NE when starting the game I wanted to be one badly, and the appearance when I did start the game didn't let me down. To me, female dwarfs are just, ewwwwwwwwwwwwww. Male dwarfs are OK but I like looking at my NEs more =)

Who gives a crap about racials? They are all good, and they are all bad, depending on the situation.

I chose Night Elf, since I liked the race itself. I simply wouldn't manage running around staring at that hideous dorf all day. Shadowmeld+Prowl is just an added bonus in PvE and PvP both.

I agree! When I started this game, I knew nothing about racials and abilities. I choose the race that looked best for me.

Im the true minority in this thread.... I'm a... Troll...

Yes I'm blue, UGLY and PROUD....And I sound like a frog when I take a harsh landing...

Pfft NE and Dwarves...(although as much as i drink beer I should of been a Dwarf lol)

On topic, the reason every NE hunter I've bumped into say they chose NE, is for that Blue bow in their starting area...Or so they say. Even thou Venomstrike is available at 19, not much difference there imo. But all NE hunters I bumped into come up to me and ask me the same questin..."Why didnt you go NE?"

But if I had to choose, I aint gonna be no NE...Dwarf ftw.
