Priest/Mage comboFollow

So the typical mage progression guide goes fire for solo, then frost to AoE grind, then take your pick for pvp/pve/raid etc. I started up a new mage toon with a buddy of mine and he chose priest. Since we'll be grouping to do almost everything should I skip the solo fire section and just go right into frost? It seems that frost would have more utility for us as squishy casters who really need to keep the opposition at range.

Any thoughts?

lvling with somone? well i started doing this with a rly close friend of mine and it never rly works out. people always do things differenyly, get bored, and sometimes just don't feel like it. well if it works out for u great, my advice use ur talents so you can solo at the sm time.
