SocketsFollow

I just received a chest piece that has spaces for 2 blue sockets and 1 yellow socket. Can anyone tell me how I can obtain these sockets? Thanks so much for all the help.

Well, on the left hand side of this page, there is a menu bar. Click "Gems..." and then blue (when looking for blue) and yellow (when looking for yellow). See which gems give you bonuses on stuff you want. Then go to the AH, or see a friendly guildie Jewel Crafter, and ask them for these gems/pay for these gems. Shift click the item and a new window will pop up. Drag-n-drop the gems into the sockets and click "Socket item". You're ready to wear your new gem-studded chest piece.

Gratz!

What KTangent said. Also note that there are gem vendors around too so you can get some starter gems pretty cheap and some, depending on the stats you prefer, you'll like better than what's on the AH. (Hey, I was still saving for my Charger when I got my first pieces of socket-wear and I actually liked the couple I got from the gem vendor - got some AH ones too though).

I know for sure there's a Gem Vendor in Honor Hold in the Inn.

Also, in case you were wondering - you CAN change what gems are in the sockets later. So you can go with a starter set and replace the gems later (you'll lose the original ones though).

Also, note that the gems from vendors (at least on my server) are hardly any cheaper than the uncommon gems from the AH, especially if you buy the jewel and get a friend to cut them for you. More bonus for the same price = good.
Also, you do NOT have to match the gem to the socket. If you would rather put +7dmg red gems in an item that has a blue and yellow socket, go ahead - only thing you lose is the socket bonus, which (especially after you start getting the rare gems) is hardly worth keeping if you favor a certain stat.
