Help my Demo buildFollow

#1 Apr 02 2007 at 12:47 AM Rating: Decent
I'm level 50 now, and while I love Affliction and know I'm going back to it soon enough, I wanted to try Demo for a bit once I hit 50.

Basically, I just need to know what it should look like at 50, and how I should spend my points from 51 and up.

I'm having a problem thinking of as a good Demo build for leveling (and I'm on a PvP server so I like to include some PvP talents for gankers)...

After I fill in 5/5 DE, I can't figure out where to put those points. Fel Intelect, Improved Imp (for instances), or Imp Healthstone? And then also Fel Stamina and Demonic Aegis.

But the decision gets harder as I move down the tree past Demonic Sacrifice. I feel like I should get 5/5 MD, 3/3 Mana Feed, 3/3 Demonic Resilience, 3/3 Demonic Knowledge, SL, and then Felgaurd. Should I skip Demonic Tactics? 5% crit definitly helps but would free up 5 points for other talents.

Help! And also, after those 41 points, where should I start spending my points? Subspec Dest or Affliction?

This is a good felguard build, you'd want to put the rest in affliction, as you level.
This build is pretty easy, send in pet, dot heavily, lifetap, drain life, health funnel

My experience was, that the FG runs out of mana very fast, after 2-3 fights you have to rest for a longer period, for the FG to regain mana. Or, you could just summon a new FG when to old is out of mana (only took me 10 lvls to realize that!) :)

This is what I'm using at 70. It focuses on +dmg from having the pet out in combo with lots of +crit and +spell dmg gear. I use the succubus most of the time, and felguard when I need resistences or a larger hit point bank in my pet from Soul Link. It's very good for raiding and PvP.

At 50, you're still soloing most of the time. I had a demono/affliction build at 50 and found in incredibly efficient. I rarely drank, enjoyed good survivability from the demono buffs, and was still able to pull several mobs at once.

Something like this:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?0502220510210110000002050300133200000000000000000000000000000000

This gives you 4 dots, allows drain tanking and cranks up your voidwalker for the most effective multiple mob grinding. I found Demonic Secrifice didn't fit my playstyle when soloing, and diving down to MD or SL at level 50 severely nerfs your soloing effeciency imo. Put Amplify Curse/Curse of Exhaustion together on a macro which casts together if Amp Curse is up and not if on cooldown.

This way, you can dot up a target, use the Blueberry to grab aggro, and AC/CoE/Fear and/or Drain Tank them as they peel off onto you. Easily capable of taking 4-5 mobs at same level.

You want improved health funnel and mana feed, definitely.

W/out mana feed you have to turn off his abilities - or have a pet that can't taunt and can't hold agro due to no mana. 1/3, 2/3 or 3/3 - that's arguable. I'd go at least 2/3 - I'm now 3/3.

When I hit 50, I plan to take this build for a felguard, and the only little bit of uncertainty is the possibility of taking Improved Healthstone rather than Improved Health Funnel. To me it seems the simple, obvious base of a Felguard build. And I don't buy the notion the Demonology tree is somehow incomplete with just 41 points, only working when it has 45 or so. I plan to put the other 20 back into Affliction.

Should I spend any points improving my pets? Or will I end up using Felguard for soloing most of the time?

I didn't use anything but the FG, except when running instances, then I used the Imp.

It's not worth spending points on improving other pets, because the FG can be used against all types of mobs.

NO. Take Improved Health Funnel. Period.

W/ a Felg you are constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY maintaining him.

You must tap to Mana Feed him (you must get mana feed, 1/3, 2/3 or 3/3 is debatable - I'm 3/3 and liking it). You must heal him.

Yeah, heh, as someone pointed out, sometimes it's easier to summon a new one - it's not that much time or mana cuz of our talents - when Felg gets beat up.

Is it worth it?

At lvl 64, taking off some of my + damage gear. I went out to see how long it would take to kill 65 Talbuk using same tactics but different pets.

VW: sicced him while doing COA and COR... waited for second taunt (it helps VW keep agro) - did immo, tapped self, drained health, wanded. VW lost agro every fight, and talbuk attacked me before it died. Every fight took over 30 seconds.

FELG: sicced Felg while doing CoA, corruption and Immo. Tapped, drained, wanded. In every fight the target died 18 seconds in. Felg never lost agro.

W/ +dam gear and even more aggressive casting, you can make fights go faster. You will run low on mana and need to drink if you're "too" aggressive. Or you need to do a tap and drain fight or two. Anyway, I still like the Felg at mid-sixties.

Very much agree.
I never used my SBs with void, I would pull aggro from him each time. When I got Felguard I discovered again the beauty of SB first time since lvl 6 or so.
Maintaining, as you said, your pet is very small price for such a nice tank and added dps in my opinion. I can kill so very much faster and manage multiple adds without worry, I dont use any other pet now.
And I dont mind taking care of my pets.... they very much deserve it.
