Duo with a mageFollow

#1 Apr 02 2007 at 2:22 AM Rating: Decent
ok so a friend and i decided to lvl Blood elves together hes a mage and im a pally. I heal and tank and he nukes blah blah u get the idea. we are lvl 17 atm and things are going great we took on 8 mobs whos lvl was = to our own at once!, we were both amazed. so my question is will we be able to keep duoing as well as we are now, or will things get harder? BTW im protection spec and hes arcane, incase that makes a difference. also are there any other god duo combos?

You will be able to take on 8 mobs your level by yourself. :)

I'm only a 42 paladin now, full protection specced. Largest pull was at lvl 36 at the murlocs near Theramore. Initial pull contained 7 mobs, all lvl 35-36. the runners dragged back more and I ended up with 13 death murlocs at my feet, and my health and mana half way.

So for the lower levels, you will surely be able to take on large groups.
Can't tell you about the later levels though :( we'll leave that to our high level brothers. But if I am to believe the threads in the forums we will still be able to do this at higher levels.

Prot FTW

Heh heh heh oh yes, it continues at least to the early 60's. Prot/Holy spec pally here. I had the same problem with runners (plus stealthed wanderers) that you did. Pulled 3, picked up a 4th on the back track. Then they just kept on coming. The mobs were between 62 and 64 I was 61 or 52 (it was close to when I lvled and I can't remember which I was).

I actually don't remember how many I killed, I know the camp respawned on me as I was backing out of poison clouds. I had Seal of light up all the time for the heals, Holy light a few times, using a bubble and bandage, etc - I also used potions... twice. Yes, that's right, the fight went on long enough AFTER it got to the point that I needed the first potion, that the cooldown had expired and I was able to use one again.

True we may not be the fastest killers, but we also don't corpse run too often either :-)

I'm doing the exact same thing with my GF, except I'm the protection pally and she's a fire mage. Our goal is to duo to 70, and we're both 42 atm. It's been going great imo. We've duod almost every instance available to us so far, and it's been a fun challenge. We duod all of Scarlet Monastery by 41, which we we're kinda proud of. There's some tricks to it, and as you get more talents into protection it will make a huge difference, but I can tell you from personal experience that it's a very potent and capable duo.

I think Paladins must just generally rock with every class. I started duoing with a friend who went as a Hunter (with my Human Pala, I mostly soloed) and at the beginning of level 22 we cleared out the Wailing Caverns, finishing halfway to level 25 with both of us getting some very nice Blues (including the Mutant Scale Breastplate). Took on everyone but Verdan the Everliving. We were gonna head back to him after Mutanus the Devourer to give it a go, but my friend had run out of arrows (although we like a challenge, we are not completely suicidal).

I realise with WC it's just early days, but I'm really looking forward to seeing how far we'll be able to push this combo in the future (roll on the end of my finals). I hope pairing with a Mage is just as rewarding, sounds like it should be good.

Judging Seal of Justice will prevent runners...it's a "target won't flee" spell. It's probably the best CC method Pallys have, though it's only good for soloing because if you're with a group chances are you have better CC skills available.

Yup, definitely a good way to prevent runners. However, I usually don't mind the adds unless I'm getting low on health or mana.

Only problem with Seal of Justice is that you can Judge it only so often. ;P

I didn't say I the runners weer a problem. It's just the other way around, I stood in the middle of the murloc camp and didn't even have to move to get the mobs on me, the runners would go and get them for me :)
So I wont be using SoJ and JoJ, just use SoL and JoL, when mana gets low judge ,light and SoW.

We are paladins, we refuse to die!
