Pally main, and what Alt?Follow

#1 Apr 03 2007 at 5:42 AM Rating: Decent
Just wanted to see what all Pally mains decided to do for an alternate toon? I figure since Pallies are Hybrids then the easiest transition would be into a Warrior or Priest alt. I was also thinking of making another Hybrid such as Shaman, but I think it will just be more of the same. Any ideas? Thanks.

Since my pally is a healer, I wanted something a little different so I rolled both a warlock and a mage. The warlock is fun for both DoTs and pets (a Hunter would be fun for similar pet goodness) and the mage is all about burst DPS. It's rather refreshing to hop on them from time to time because the tactics of the game are very different when approached from those guys than they are from the Paladin. I'd say roll something that catches your fancy; whatever class you were debating between initially when you went pally. What's nice is not only does the game look and feel different from a different class, but you learn their strengths and weaknesses first-hand and that can benifit you down the road.

I rolled a rogue a few months ago and matched my paladin DPS like 30 levels earlier. :hmm:

So your saying try something completely different aye?

Yea I currently have a lvl 7 Human Rogue and it is somewhat fun to sneak up on people and shank them.

The only problem I have with rolling with something completly different is that I feel like a newb. I kinda liked the idea of having some experience then trasferring to a new char... that way I come in with some skill. Though what your both saying sounds good too, it brings a new element to the game. Hmm.

I have a lvl 32 war alt, 26 mage, 23 hunter

Depends on what mood Im in. Sometimes I like getting up close and nailing stuff with a huge two handed axe, or I like blasting em down. Though the mage and the hunter are too squishy for my play style

I have many alt, but I am partial to my fury warrior. Just seeing the damage caused is such a high after playing my pally. I have played a hunter to 35, a warlock to 35 and the other classes to at leat 10, but my fury warrior is just to much fun to ignore. She is almost 58 and way out dps's my 66 pally. Having crits for 600+ on a 1hander is crazy, (using HS of course). Since my Pally is holy spec'd the priest didnt really do much for me, so its at only level 10.

I have a mage alt and love it. I personally like the totally different play style as it provides me a break from playing pally. Tired of sitting there watching things die as they hit you to their own demise? Switch to the blinking, frost novaing, pyroblaster, where the whole goal is to kill things before they even hit you and everything goes down fast (including you if you ***** up)

I suppose it depends on why you really want an alt. If you are just waiting for your rest meter to fill up, then by all means play something familiar. If you're looking for a new or different challenge, stretch yourself and play something markedly different.

I have two alts. Once is a warlock the other a rogue. Both of them are in the upper 20s.

That is exactly what I like about it. I get the same "ah haa!" moments of discovery that I had as I learned how to play the pally. And I actually find that I am not in as big a hurry to level them as I was with my main.

The lock was my first alt. I thought of them as the direct opposite of a pally. Dark, clothie, with a pet. The pet dynamic is great. It's almost like I am always in a group and there is a lot to pay attention to at once. Much like when I am in a group as a pally. Also, there are so many different ways to approach a fight.

The rogue was my AH mule at first but I decided to play her a little bit as a change of pace. Again, combat feels completely different than with my main. It's faster, active, and if I am not paying attention...corpse run. I'm in close but wow, I sure can't take any damage.

I love playing other characters and I'm sure I will explore some of the others as well. Warrior will probably be the last one I try. The dynamics of the other classes just seem more interesting to me.

See sig.

My pally is definately the slowest killing character i have. it's quite a bore to play tbh unless im partnered with somebody.

Rogue is pure leetsauce.

While the paladin is my main I am an alt junkie

Just started a shaman and have one of every other class at various levels between 10 and 60

I have an alt of every Alliance class but my main alt is a 60 mage. I love playing the other classes and like others have said, it's nice to get a break from the Paladin and play something different.

It works for me. As a Combat Medic, my time in instances is insane, especially in places like Karazan, Gruul and Magtheridon's lair, etc. I'm healing, and cleansing like crazy while watching everyone's health bars and keeping myself alive. Lose a couple people and it gets even hairier. I love it. I love the instanity of being a pally in an instance.

But sometimes I just want to kill hard and fast. Both alts are something different that gives the game a flavor other than "Pally Pleasure".

As Phantompig pointed out, that's part of the fun of an alt. Not that there isn't more to learn from your pally once you hit end-game, but I'll admit that I've thoroughly enjoyed learning new talents on an alt. You can choose something completely opposite of a pally or not so long as it's something that you enjoy.

And if you don't enjoy it, no harm no foul because you've got yourself yet another bank alt.

For me my Pally was an alt and quickly became my main.

I started a lock alt same time as my pally..this character comes in second behind the pally in time played. It wasn't a deal breaker but having the quested mounts for both these classes was a big plus...no overhead.

Initially I started with a warrior and got it to 60 then rolled other classes to see how they played. Right now I got 68 pally, 67 lock, 62 priest, 61 warrior and next to outlands will be my currently 52 druid. My lvl 18 shammy/jewelcrafter is something I've got on the shelf for later.

By FAR, the easiest classes to level have been lock and pally. It's just easy for them to solo quests with a tremendous ammount of survivability.

Both my previous main and my new main are pallies, but as far as alts go, I went with a hunter. The main reason I made this alt was to have something I could play when not playing with my fiance (former rogue now turned priest). Also, I really like the idea of having a constant support character with you while still being a melee class.

I find DPS an extremely boring aspect of the game, so I only rolled a Priest and a Warrior. Actually used my Priest for raiding pre-TBC, so it was more or less my main back then. Maybe I roll a Druid or Shammy some day, though I'm doubtful of the Shammy.

I come from the other side. :P

I used to have a 60 Druid on when BC came out I wanted to start fresh on a new server, and try out Alliance to see how it was to be on that side. Got to level 49 before I got sick of Alliance. Not that they are much worse than Horde, if I don't get to look cooler than a bull why should I stick on that side and deny myself the killing of many Gnomes?

But yeah, umm, after that I went back to my Horde server and I wanted to try a new class for a change and it was either Shammy or Pally. Shammies are nice, but there are too many things I dislike about them. The main one is how easy it is for them to burn through their whole mana pool. So Pally it was and I enjoy it so far. I can't do as much DPS as I could in Cat form, but I find healing much easier and I enjoy running an instance, healing, buffing every 5 minutes, switching auras in the middle of fights, etc. Keeps me busy, feels nice. (Druid healing is: MotW on everyone, heal for 30 minutes, MotW on everyone, etc)

I love all the abilities of the Pally to prevent a wipe. Divine Intervention is nice. Bubble for me if I draw too much aggro. Bubble for a squishy in real trouble. Lay on Hands is nice too but less useful in instances IMO. And finally a real rez!

I play RP (yes I know *roll eyes*) so I try to make alts with diffrent backgrounds. So my alts are Hunter and Rouge. Just my two cents.

Wow! All great responses! Well I'm now starting to think more so of making a Rogue alt to counter the longer battles of my Pally. My only regret on that would be that I won't be able to "father" my alt very well with the exception of money. I was kinda hoping to use my Bsmithing on my main to benefit an alt... but I think I'm willing to make this exception.

I have a 70 Rogue and 61 Warrior alt, for my paladin. I went paladin to be a healbot, and healbot onry. (wanna tank mara? NO I DON'T WANT TO TANK MARA!!!) :P
I needed a change from the usual doing damage and wanted to actually be valuable in PvP (JOMG, a healer that heals in pvp?! no wai.) And pretty good at it actually, but if I create an alt, it's going to be another fast leveler, like a hunter, to make up for the auto-attack, alt-tab of paladin. hehe =)
