Now i have always been a fan of shatter, one of the best talents for a mage. But ever since the frost nova nerf, if fit worth going heavy into ice now? right now i'm 35/26/0, 27% chance to crit with fire spells. I was a former ice mage. Is it worth speccing back to 41 ice? or going arcane ice like every other mage? at this point i'm not sure
I've always been frost except for the occasional experimental arc/ fire, fire/arc spec and I don't really think the nerf did all that much for me I still top the dps charts in instances and whatnot. With the pet and lance I can pull off what I refer to as the "super combo" where i do frostbolt then like .3 sec before it casts pet nova>bolt finishes>cast ice lance>pet bolt and usually they all crit but the pet attack so from that 2.5 secs I did about 5.2k dmg or so... Then when the mob, person, etc gets near you frost nova, blink and repeat :)
Sorry to go off thread, but frank, you wouldn't happen to be from spirit lake would you? I know a frank the tank there.

IMO frost will always rock socks. Fire dmg is nice, but it's a one trick pony. The utility spells make frost so much more useful, and the dmg is still right up there. I think the pet coupled with ICS and shatter crits make for the creme de la creme in PVE or PVP.
ya, frost probably does more dmg in the end, even with ur crit pyroblast.

Not on boss fights(which is what I do math for).

Pyroblast does that in one crit, without Arcane Power. Couple that with Arcane power, POM, pyro, fireblast, I can clear 14k damage with crits.

That's a pretty huge number. Are you talking about the Direct damage from pryoblast, or direct damage + DOT + Ignite? My max damage to date with pyro is around 8.5K total damage (ish).
