To me 25 or bust, the damage on Mutilate isn't all that fantastic unless it crits, at least to me.

You'll be fine KT. Once you hit 70 there are actually some good pieces of crit gear than you can pick up. I hit 25% (without dagger spec) in my PvP gear... and I still have like 1375 AP with 8.5k hp and something like 11% hit with precision.

In all reality, I generally wear my normal DPS gear when playing mute (41/20/0) and with 22.5% crit, 1476ap, 16% hit it works perfectly fine for pretty much everything. Obviously mute works best with lots of crit - but if you have to throw away too many other stats to get that crit... well then blah. If you find yourself lacking stats when you do hit 70 on overpowdered... check out the fel leather set. There are plenty of LWs that can make it by now, mats are relatively inexpensive, and the 3 piece set will give you 66 crit rating (~3% crit), 67 hit rating (~4.25% hit), and 124 ap. The set has no stamina on it, which really isn't a huge deal for PvE - you'll have gobs of stamina in high end 5 man blues. It is nice in the fact that btween the 3 pieces (gloves/boots/pants) it has 4 yellow sockets and 3 red sockets. You can load those up with your choice of gems to tailor it to you (+8 cr , +8 hr, 4cr / 6stam, 4agi / 4 hr are always good choices).

Combine that set with the trinket from black morass (32 cr) and bladefist's breadth (another 22? cr) and you'll be doing fine.
