Ok, that title is a bit dramatic =P
but still, my hunter probably wont tame another pet for a long time.
Yesterday I looked up what lvl the highest abilities were, checked where to get them (the ones I wanted) and decided to go for it.
Caught a Greater windroc from nagrand first for Screech 5.
Ran to blade's edge, while killing some elementals on the way (sporregar rep and learning screech 5)

After a simple kill spiders quest in the cave towards the mountains I set off to the ogre grounds to catch one of their monstrous wolves.
After some searching, I found a lvl 66 one (my lvl, so i couldnt tame 1 of a higher level) I cleared the way around one, and released the owl.
Tamed the wolf and rushed back to the nearest village to make a stop at the stable master and take a bird to shattrath.

After a quick travel out of shattrath and into the woods to find a spider, I Quickly ran into one (literally), dropped my freezing trap and tamed it right after it poisoned me....
I ordered it to kill some of its family because of that and to learn Bite 9, dumped the pest, and rushed into the ravager plagued edge of the world.
1 easy catch later, I obtained a ravager with dash 3, I was almost done with taming pets.

The travel to Zul'Gurub was easy, although I had to shake off some beggars in front of the troll lands.
I send in the ravager to cause some havoc amongst the trolls so I could run into their empire.
Some searching (and guidance from a raiding friend ;) ) later I found the beast I was looking for.
The proud and beautiful Son of Hakkar.
It cost me a few minutes of observing before I understood the partols.

And then I tamed my last pet.
A moment that made me happy, as well as sad.

(ah well, at least i have my lowbie orc hunter to tame new pets with =P )

I’m going to have to do a lot of running around with Cashara before she tames her warpstalker at 67. That will be her third pet. So I’ll have to get every pet skill I want before I tame that green beastie. Hopefully I can get all the skills I need at 67. If not I’ll have to wait to tame my new pet. I’ve been playing new blood elf characters so I’ve not looked up the skills yet.

I know what you mean... I just did so much running around and dumped my cat *sniff*, to get a windserpent+wolf. Now I have my wolf, windserpent, and warpstalker. (Btw Calabar, don't you mean the warpCHASER?) But with all this boar crusade and all, it's seriously making me wanting to get one, I'm thinking of dimping the windserpent because, although Geico is less than him in every way possible, the comments about his name and looks are way too much to pass up =P

Anyway, before the looks of boars were.. eh.. Now I'm looking at them in a whole new light. Too bad their aren't any higher levels, new I have to tame a plagued swin and they're my lest-favorite model. If only Blizzard would put a high level black armored boar...

Or... mabye camp Grunter. If that doesn't work I'll get an Ashmane Boar. Grind with some guildies, very helpful guild. In fact, ranked number one of the server =)

check the abilities here
i'm glad i finished taming with the most interesting tame so far.
entering Zul'Gurub was a first time for me, so i could have a good look around there too ^^

and i am very glad i tamed a Son of Hakkar, and not one of the new Wind Serpents because they are UGLY.... brrrr (ran sethekk halls last night... sadly no boots or leggings.)

now i need names for both the serpent and my wolf (who did an excellent job in sethekk, and i almost named him sheep =P but i want a serious name for him, going to be looking at him a lot...)
edit: highest lvl tamed ability is lvl 67 unless i missed 1

Yes and no. *grins*

Warpstalker is the family name, the same as cat or wolf. So yes, the warpstalker that I mean to tame is a warpchaser. Blizzard really should have come up with a different family name for these beasties, as this has gotten confusing for a lot of people.

I released Cashara’s black wolf back into the wild. But I was recently reminded of a name I’ve thought of using should I ever tame another wolf. “Wishbone” That is the name of a dog in a rather imaginative children’s program of the same name.

Funny, if I ever tame another cat, I'm naming it Fishhead after a favorite childhood book. Which seems to be out of print, sadly.

Edit: here's a temporary link to an ebay auction I just found, and put a bid on:

I am starting a new hunter today (as I am finding way too easy to pull myself away from the LOTRO Beta, game isn't that good).

I have already determined my endgame pets (more-or-less), as of the current patch; they are subject to change.

Offensive: (PvP/Instance)
Cat (Bast or Sekhmet, Egyption Cat Goddesses)- Bite 9, Claw 9, Cower 7, Growl 8, Prowl 3, Great Stamina 11.

OR

Wind Serpent (Kura, name of the Chinese Dragon God of Rain)- Bite 9, Cower 7, Growl 8, Dive 3, Lightning Breath 6, Great Stamina 11, Natural Armor 5 (or varying resists).

Defensive: (PvE)
Warp Stalker (Hermes, mostly after his warp ability)- Bite 9, Claw 9, Warp 1, Growl 8, Great Stamina 11, Natural Armor 7 (or resists).

Other- (Instance/PvP)
Worg/Wolf (Fenrir, because I am originally and <3 Loki)- Bite 9, Furious Howl 4, Growl 8, Cower 7, Dash 3, Varying Armor/Resists/Stamina depending on plans. (I am almost never short on cash, so I can switch it up. :P)

OR

Dragonhawk (Ur or Hor, Hawk God of Hunting)- Bite 9, Fire Breath 2, Growl 8, Cower 7, Dive 3, Varying Armor/Resists/Stamina depending on plans. (Part of me really loves the idea of a BE Hunter with a DH pet, A DH non-combat pet, riding a chicken... But that requires me to put away my Netherwhelp. :/)

OR (/cry)

Carrion Bird (Isis, Bird-Headed Egyptian Goddess)- Bite 9, Claw 9, Growl 8, Cower 7, Dive 3, Screech 5, Varying resists, etc... (This is specifically only Trachela, because she has the coolest pet model in the game. :P)

Now, I have been reading up on Hunters for awhile, and I know that the boar is the best "all-around" pet, but aesthetically, I cannot stand them. If anyone could give me things they learned about their experiences, that would be great. I am not looking for the best pet, I just happen to be at a stalemate between choices.

Thanks!

[EDIT] I forgot one of the pets, :P.
