Frost/Arcane question...Follow

#1 Apr 05 2007 at 1:09 PM Rating: Decent
So ok, everyone's frost/arc these days because, let's face it, it's fun and it rumbles. I'm wondering if I go frost till the elemental, then arcane till ICS, what's the best use for those 3 extra TP? I like the look of arcane fortitude and either finish off arctic reach or ice floes, but maybe I'm not thinking of something? Anyone's feedback is appreciated, I've only brought one mage this far. Let me know what you think XD

17/0/44 Water Elemental Frost/Arcane (PvP Version)

20/0/41 Water Elemental Frost/Arcane (PvE Version)

I would have just gone 18 points into Arcane and used the extra 2 points to finish Elemental Precision and probably pickup a point in Permafrost, but since you wanted Improved Counterspell, I just threw it in.

Ya think Arcane Impact, subtlety and focus are more useful than absorption missiles and fortitude? This is the build I'm thinking about, seems like it would be pretty effective, at least to my mind's eye, for PVP as well as PVE.

Any thoughts?

Subtlety and Focus are more useful in PvE than Missiles for most specs of mage, though Missiles is good for PvP when fighting casters.

Impact vs Absorption is kind of a toss up. I'd take Impact over Absorption for PvP, but for PvE, Absorption all the way.

Fortitude is a nigh useless talent.

I find myself not using ae or ab much, you think impact is still the way to go? So i ditch fort and put that point into finishing up arctic reach, that's well-spent i think, but does the extra chance to crit for ae and ab of impact outweigh the extra resistance and mana regen of absorption? Particualarly when I rarely use those spells (ae sometimes only b/c it's instant cast to polish off a dying mob).

Personally, I've always thought of Arcane Impact as more of a PvP talent because there will be times you'll use Arcane Explosion.

In PvE, if you don't use those spells then don't get it. Absorption will be better; even if it is just a little better.
