Need advice on leveling buildFollow

#1 Apr 05 2007 at 1:45 PM Rating: Decent
I am new to the warlock class. I have a level 16 lock and am not sure how best to spend my talent points to maximize damage for leveling. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, the most practical first talent is improved corruption. 5/5 in imp cor = insta-cast - i.e. you can even cast it while running. Saves TONS of time over 1000s of fights and is very handy.

Since most locks start w/ this, they just stay in affliction for better taps and drains. This allows two methods of grinding pve:

drain hunting:

doable w/ any build, startable about your lvl. You sic VW, cast CoA and Cor. Then wait a bit. Let vW land second taunt (watch for resists - wait a cycle if there is a resist). THEN cast immo. Why? Helps the VW hold agro if he has two taunts on the target before you immolate. Some targets require three taunts at certain levels.

After immo, tap to up your mana, drain to fix your life back up. Wand.

You end fight nearly full health and mana, no downtime drinking and eating - loot and move onto next fight. Fast exp.

Drain tanking can be done, starting... I forget what lvl - it's in the 20's I think. Read in the COMPENDIUM in our lock forum how to do this, or search for threads on it. First master drain hunting - move to drain tanking only after that and reading about it. It's faster but harder to do - and requires an affliction build.

At your level your talents matter not one bit, btw. Well, imp cor makes fights a tad faster. It's not til high 20s or 30s where the builds really start to add up enough to make a difference.

Thanks!

How do you know when the VW has taunted the target?
