Need help with skill treeFollow

#1 Apr 05 2007 at 2:12 PM Rating: Decent
I think I've got a good tree picked out for a cat-build, but I'm not sure which talents I should go for first as I level up. I tried looking around but I really couldn't find any advice about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Your's is almost exactly the build I'm going for, and I'm very happy as I wander along the path at level 46 now. I understand you to be asking more about sequence than recommended talents.

Here's MY strategy for sequence.

After taking Nature's Grasp and 1/5 Furor very early before I really knew what I was doing my strategy has been to go straight down feral to get HoTW, LoTP and iLoTP ASAFP. Now I'm filling out feral to hit the investment required to get my Mangle on. I don't know if I'd grab them right away again, but I'm happy to have them. NG can be a lifesaver in cat form when you don't have a bash to give yourself time to self-heal and the occasional but unreliable instant rage/energy of Furor is nice to have too...I find ways to take advantage of it about half the times it comes along.

I plan on stocking up on resto talents as soon as I get mangle. Others advise spreading the wealth sooner than that.

If you're focused on a "cat build" like you say, you'll probably want to get to mangle ASAP like me. As part of that you might wanna take 3/3 Primal Tenacity instead of 3/3 Thick Hide. I have neither so far. Perhaps I dislike getting stunned/feared more than most though...I friggin' hate it. In general, I've seen more recommendations against Thick Hide than for it. In fact, Thick Hide isn't in my planned build even though I like tanking almost as much as making things bleed and die.

I've heard others say that 5/5 Furor is a "must have" and you should get there as soon as possible, mostly for PvP but some value in PvE too. To me the instant rage/energy is nice but not required. But "others" are usually smarter than me so you might want to take that early instead of waiting as I plan to.

Thanks for all the advice! I've been thinking about it and I think I've got a decent sequence set up. It basically goes for HotW, LotP, and Mangle ASAP.

10-14 Ferocity
15-16 Brutal Impact
17-19 Feral Instinct

20-21 Feral Swiftness
22-24 Sharpened Claws
25-27 Predatory Strikes
28-29 Primal Fury
30 Faerie Fire (Feral)
31-32 Savage Fury
33-34 Shredding Attacks

35-39 Heart of the Wild
40 Leader of the Pack
41-42 Improved Leader of the Pack
43-44 Primal Tendency (1st and 2nd)
45-49 Predatory Instincts
50 Mangle
51-55 Furor
56-60 Naturalist
61 Omen of Clarity
62-64 Natural Shapeshifter
65 Primal Tendency (3rd)
66 Feral Charge
67-69 Intensity
70 Nature’s Grasp

(The levels in bold are interchangeable with each other, but I tried choosing the ones that sounded better first)

Since I'm likely going to do a lot more PvE than PvP, I was thinking about getting Furor after Mangle at 50. I'm not completely sure about the order I have after that. I don't know how good Nature's Grasp or Feral Charge is so I put those towards the end for now. Either or both could probably be put in before Mangle, but I'd have to take out one or two abilities for room to still get Mangle at 50. So what do you think?

Also, you said your skill tree was a little different. Do you mind showing it me? Thanks for all the help!

Remember, you can use a respec as well. It may be worthwhile getting furor, naturalist and Omen of Clarity earlier , then respeccing to Mangle when you hit 50. You should have plenty of cash to cover the cost by the time you hit 50.

Furor will only be taken early if you PvP. If all you do is PvE, you can skip it for the time being (Although you'll bump into situations where, if you had it, would turn out differently).

Furor is a heavily PvP Talent. :) So is Feral Charge. You're probably OK the way you are, Just be aware that PvPing early in your Druid career is going to be painful. :)
